Rafe was along the fringes of the crowd. It didn't occur to her to think about how Spectrum was shouting at the bystanders to move along or that she'd be late for class (though if she thought about it further she would have thought about how there probably wasn't any classes). She was simply, horribly mesmerized by the heat and fire.
And then she snapped out of it when she saw a familiar figure speeding through the crowd.
"SPEC!"
She screamed before she realized it. However, over loud noises, her voice was swallowed up. She bolted forward and shoved hard - drawing some angry and surprised exclamations around her - but she ignored them. Her power didn't fully activate but she could feel almost a leak, letting her barrel through with more strength and speed than she normally would. She kept thinking 'Specspecspecspec-', hardly seeing what was in front of her.
Not even the Spectrum officer, who had already seen at least one form run into the building and wasn't about to let another one through. He grabbed onto her shoulder as she ran out of the crowd and then that leak felt like more like a breaking damn. Her pupils were dilated in a desperate, frenzied way, more animal-like than human, and she snapped, "LET GO!"
She yanked her arm free with ease and she bolted forward with surprising speed, gaining ground fast as she ran in after Spec.
