Rafe fidgeted. "Honestly, a lot of the time it'd feel good to know the truth, isn't it? A lot of people lie when they really don't have to or it'd really help to know those secrets before it came to bite you in the ass."
But she also remembered the sword cutting through her and forcing her to see what the truth was, even if she'd already known it. Just because it was true doesn't mean she liked being reminded of it. Or...other matters.
She thought of her parents about things years ago and the amount of hedging they still did about it.

"But if you learn to control your sword then you don't have to force people to be truthful when it might be better if they're not, right? Doesn't that make it easier?"
