Rupert placed his journal on his legs and clasped his hands together, setting them down on top of it. He stared at the girl for a moment. The irritation on her face was apparent, which means he got somewhere with what he was saying earlier. But which was the thing that annoyed her most? Could it be the alleyway comment? Perhaps the old ruins comment? He could run with either of them since they were technically the same thing, but whether or not he should was in question. He felt he could take this a tad farther. He felt that her slightly impudent behavior warranted at least that much.
"Oh, no, no, no, Miss Lady Jogger," he began, the smile not leaving his face, "'twas merely a question. You need not get so out of shape about it... though I can see why you would hide such a thing as living in an alleyway or amongst some old ruins. I have to say, though, you do clean up well for someone who might live in such squalor. I am impressed."
