Rupert blinked once as he noticed the girl pick up his journal, brush the dirt of and hand it back to him. He hadn't expected that from whoever perpetrated this heinous crime.
"That is correct," he responded, taking the journal from her. "Thank you."
With that, he removed a handkerchief from his pocket and started wiping away the mess the startled pigeon left on his coat.
"A word of advice. You would do well to watch where you're running, lest you plow into something. Next time, it might be more serious than a pack of foul birds."
