Well, that was certainly a telling stare. It was piercing, it was focused, and it would even have been a bit intimidating if Jeremiah wasn't so sure the girl he was speaking to was much younger than him. He placed her in her teens at most from one single glance at her, top to bottom. Perhaps 18, but he supposed she could also pass for 19 as well.
There were a lot of events happening at that point in life which were simply critical. Any one of them could be weighing on her mind at this moment in time. Then again, she could also just be particularly unsettled by the situation itself. He certainly wouldn't blame her. It was a bit unsettling.
What else could he find out about her? He looked at her long and hard as she spoke.
She's well dressed, but her choice of colors suggest that she might be part of the gothic or punk phase that seems to be all the rage these days. Her hair is very neat, suggesting she cares about her personal appearance. Could be someone of popular repute. The parasol, though, gives on a new perspective entirely. What could that be for? Hmm. Best respond to her now. Jeremiah thought to himself, mentally noting and profiling the girl.
He gave her a calming smile. "Certainly," he began, "I eagerly anticipate the ensuing cases the new year will bring to me, and what new scenarios I might find myself in as a result of them. How about you? What are you looking forward to most in the next new year?"
