Lily cut a striking figure in the crowd with flowing black satin evening gown, elbow length lace gloves, and matching shawl. Her hair hung loose down her back, adorned only by a pair of long, black ribbons keeping it pinned back from her face. She wore a silver ankh pendant and matching earrings. Light shimmered on a bracelet on her wrist. However, the most unusual thing about her appearance was the presence of a black lace parasol that was currently open despite being indoors. It rested comfortably on one shoulder, spinning now and again as she absently twirled it in her hands.
Despite being one of the few people in the audience actually paying close attention to the presentation being given, Lily managed to follow several conversation threads close by in addition. Such tasks came easily to her, though having to stand fast in the midst of an ocean of other people's feelings did complicate them somewhat. She noticed immediately that someone close by was speaking to her and turned to face him. Lily didn't smile in return. Instead, she simply leveled a piercing stare at him then spoke.
"I look forward to every new year," she said in a soft, melodic tone easily drowned out by those around them. "And you?"
