Honestly, she had no idea who this man who responded to her was. After a while, people all started to look the same to her. Someone had to do something extraordinary to get her to recognize them. Some may say her standard of "extraordinary" was too high for even the most talented of individuals. Of course it was. She wasn't trying to make yet another thing too easy in this sorry excuse for a city.
She scoffed. "It was weak," she said in reference to her comparison. "This entire class is far to easily entertained. It's how some of us were made to make a living. Honestly, it makes me wonder if anyone is actually entertained by the contents of the entertainment, or by the idea of entertainment."
She doubted there was much of a difference, but at least it kept her mother off of her case a little more than usual. As long as she believed that the city was fawning over her daughter, everything would be okay. Relatively speaking. Okay was relative, just like everything else in this outright mess.
