Carys had had her appointment on Wednesday. It was indeed twins. Two little hearts were fluttering away inside of her, the doctor had even let her see the ultra-sound like thing that he used. It was weird. He said looking at their magical signatures, it was characteristic of girls, but they'd be able to tell definitively a little later on. Regardless, they were identical twins. She really wished she could be more happy and less apprehensive about this. What kind of person was she, not even wanting to deal with the next 7 months and 18 years? It still seemed so unreal.
She needed to quit thinking about this or she'd throw up again. She made her way to Le Pain Quotidien, where she was going to meet Angelina. The sun was shining at least. It had been raining the past few days. So that was a plus.
Carys was sure she looked a bit like hell. Definitely tired, she hadn't been sleeping so well; she felt guilty for not telling George and she'd been plagued with headaches and body aches and her chest was killing her. She'd noticed she'd lost a little weight too. It made her collar bones stick out and that made her frown while looking into the mirror.
She was wearing a dress with a black shrug and red flats. It was a good thing, she thought, that her normal clothing was wispy and didn't stick to her body. Enough to hide the slight increase in chest size and hips and the tiniest bit of pooch that she had in her lower abdomen. According to her book, her uterus had doubled in size, which explained running to the bathroom a bit more frequently.
Being a chick sucks, she thought as she opened the door to the restaurant and got a table by the window again. Maybe she could try some croissants. They were sorta bland like crackers.
The morning sickness, while random and annoying, she'd learned could be controlled with crackers and tea (her purse was stuffed with packets of crackers) and just taking it slow. No sudden movements.
Sitting down slowly, she changed the song on her music player and ordered some chamomile tea. After checking her watch once more, she was a little early, Carys settled in to people watch until Angelina got there.
