However, anyone who has already confirmed receipt of their first prompt may claim a second prompt. After completion and submission of your first two prompts, you may also sign up here for a third.
To sign up for deeply_horrible's Bring Back the Bastard challenge, first read the updated rules below, then follow the instructions contained beneath the second cut ("Prompt-Claiming Rules & Sign-Up Template").
General Rules
Participants must include a date of birth or an age statement in their user profile confirming they are at least eighteen years old.
All entries must include bastard!Snape. Entries that fail to focus on bastard!Snape will not be accepted. If you don't like the word bastard, here are some other ways to think about Snape's character: as ambiguous, ambivalent, annoying, appalling, arrogant, bitter, brilliant, brooding, brusque, bullying, calculating, callous, capricious, childish, closed-off, cold-eyed, crafty, creepy, cruel, dark, deceptive, demanding, determined, eerie, elusive, explosive, ferocious, frightening, greedy, grudging, hardened, inscrutable, insecure, insulting, irrational, jaded, jealous, loyal, maddening, malicious, masochistic, melodramatic, morally dubious, nasty, obsessive, obstinate, oddball, oily, passionate, petty, petulant, proud, possessive, repellent, rude, ruthless, sadistic, sarcastic, savage, scruffy, selfish, self-punishing, severe, shady, shallow, shifty, shrewd, sly, sneaky, spiteful, stingy, sullen, temperamental, tyrannical, unfair, unnerving, unpredictable, unreasonable, unsporting, vengeful, vicious, volatile, volcanic, vulnerable, wild . . .
You have free rein to experiment with these terms, to subvert and deconstruct and interpret them as you wish. Just remember, our primary interest is in seeing these sides of Snape explored.
Rules for Written Entries
Fic and meta entries must contain at least 500 words (unless you choose to write a poem or have a very good reason, in which case, let's talk), but there is no upper limit on how much you can write. All texts should be beta read. If you don't have a beta, please let us know and we will find one for you. Your entries should be submitted in a format suitable for pasting into an journal entry, containing the proper html and LJ-specific coding. Entries should include the header below and be emailed as .txt, .rtf, .doc, .docx or .pages files to deeplyhorrible [at] gmail [dot] com by midnight (US Eastern Time) October 28, 2012.

Rules for Art and Multimedia Entries
We are only able to accept art entries less than or equal to 800 by 600 pixels in size. Your entries should be original and beta'd. Art must be submitted in the form of .gif, .jpeg, or .png files and include the header below. Art headers should saved as a .txt, .rtf, .doc, .docx or .pages document. Please send your complete entry to deeplyhorrible [at] gmail [dot] com by midnight (US Eastern Time) October 28, 2012.
No photo-manipulations or art modelled on Alan Rickman, please.
If you choose to submit an entry combining art and text, there is no minimum word count. Please include a marker/markers within the text of your entry to indicate where the art belongs. You may include as many pieces of art as you wish, so long as they fit (together with the header and any text) into one dreamwidth entry (ask the mod if you aren't sure). Include the header in the text, which should be formatted in a manner suitable for pasting into an journal entry, containing the proper html and LJ-specific coding, and saved as a .txt, .rtf, .doc, .docx or .pages document. Please send your complete entry to deeplyhorrible [at] gmail [dot] com by midnight (US Eastern Time) October 28, 2012.
If you wish to submit an entry using other media, please contact the mod and we can discuss your options.

Prompt-Claiming & Sign-Up Rules
General Information
To claim a prompt and sign up for deeply_horrible's challenge to Bring Back the Bastard, review the prompts @DW | @LJ. Please read the information below carefully, then copy the sign-up template into a comment and fill in the required information.
All comments will be screened, as this is an anonymous fest. If you do not have a dreamwidth, livejournal or insanejournal account and cannot access OpenID, please contact the mod at deeplyhorrible [at] gmail [dot] com.
The list of prompts contains three wild cards. Wild cards are for those who prefer to create an entry about something not to be found on the prompt list. If you claim a wild card, you are free to create any kind of work with a focus on bastard!Snape.
Prompt-Claiming Rules
1. Prompts will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
2. You may claim a prompt even if you did not leave any during the prompting period.
3. Each prompt may only be claimed once, so please list at least three prompts in your sign-up. You will only receive one prompt.
4. You are welcome to claim your own prompt, although it will also be subject to the first-come, first-served rule.
5. Artists are welcome to claim any prompt they like, even if that prompt has not been designated as an art prompt.
6. As prompts are claimed, they will be crossed off the list; however, some delay will be inevitable. It may so happen that a prompt you choose has already been claimed. Please accept our apologies in advance should this happen to you.
7. Prompts will be available for claiming until 11:59 pm (EST) on August 12th. If you cannot be online during the prompt-claiming window, you may ask a friend or caecelia_ to sign-up on your behalf.
8. You will receive an e-mail from the mod with your assigned prompt (one of the prompts you listed) soon after making your claim and by August 13th at very latest. (If the mod does not respond within 24 hours of your claim, feel free to poke her.) Please respond to this e-mail by August 16th so that your e-mail address and acceptance of that particular prompt can be verified.
9. Once you have accepted your first prompt, you may sign up to claim another, if you so wish, even after the official claiming period has closed. There is a two prompt limit. However, once you have completed the entries for both of your prompts, you may then sign up for another prompt.
10. This is an anonymous fest. Please do not publicly discuss your prompt or identify yourself as the author or artist of a work until after the Reveal.
11. Please join and friend deeply_horrible for updates and participant-specific information.
