Gabriel could not remember the last time he'd been out on the town. It was probably months ago as he preferred to stay in and look over business reports and read the tabloids about the chaos going on. Of course, how could one be a part of chaos if they did not leave and go join in? It did not make sense for him to be hiding when he could be adding to the carnage. He needed to feel as if he was alive and well. Instead of prowling the streets, Gabriel decided to prowl the sophisticated bars. Why destroy the downtrodden when he could just go and find someone who was longing to become one with death? Death, yes, that was who he was. Old curses always said that death would come on "swift wings." Isn't that what he had? Gabriel was a grigori, an angel of death and misery. He would bring down anything that seemed to be getting too far out of line. The vampires and demons were starting to see that there was no hierarchy of families. Instead, there was only those who would kill and be killed. Innocent people died without the luxory that the demons and vampires had. Why was it that those immortal creatures got to experience life with all its pleasures while others died, pitiful and alone? He wanted to be the one that helped those immortals experience death. He wanted to be the one that made everything equal. Yes, Gabriel was the great equalizer. He was the right hand of fate, dealing death as if it were his duty. The Azazels claimed that their ancestor was a death-dealing angel so maybe it was? The grigori stretched out a bit as he took in a drink and a good gaze about the bar. Tanqueray Storm was the highest end of high end places, but it was always a pretty good place to see those who wanted to be seen. These people wanted all eyes on them. They wanted to be known and if that was what they wanted, then that was what he would give them. Sometimes these things just took a while to instigate. |
