WEEK FIFTEEN // Nicolette & Gunnar
Who: Nicolette Drake; OPEN to Gunnar
When: Week Fifteen: Friday Night
Where: Sanguis: The Drake Estate
What: Nicolette greets her husband after his extended vacation from the world.
Rating & Warnings: No clue.
When her husband arrived home, Nicolette had not been doing anything important, but she did not allow herself to see him. It wasn't because she didn't want to see him. She simply did not feel that she would look very regal running into her husband's arms and kissing his face like some sort of lovesick fool. She was supposed to be the strongest of all the vampire matriarchs. Her servants shouldn't see her melting in her husband's arms as it would give them too much to talk about outside of the estate. She had enough problems without adding that sort of gossip to her list. Instead, she tried to wait until she could pull him aside and look into those mischevious eyes. Nicolette never could understand what it was that made her fall in love with her husband. The only thing she could really say was that he was different. All those that her mother had introduced her to had been so very much like her own father that it made her ill. The only one she could stomach that was like her father was her brother, though now she saw a little bit of him in her son. She did love her father, but his undying devotion to a woman who was not always the wisest thing in the universe made her uneasy. Even when she was wrong, she was right in his eyes. That made her feel as if she was surrounded by "yes men" and never had someone that she could trust who would question her orders if they were out of line. Gunnar could do that. Yes, he was devoted to her, but there was always a spark that allowed him to suggest when he thought she was out of line. That difference made him all the more interesting. Of course, that spark also made for a rough time when she felt she wasn't out of line and he felt she was. She was a prideful woman and couldn't swallow that pride and admit when she was wrong. It was like a trap that made her look weak in the eyes of her coven members. This was why everything swirled around her mind like a giant sea squall. She knew the stance she had taken against the demons was what the coven would have wished, but she doubted it was the best way at times. She just couldn't take it back though. The rage that she had felt when her name was slandered blinded her to the fact that she could be making a huge mistake. Instead, she tried to ride the tide of vampire hatred and form herself into the leader that everyone thought she should be. The queen could have had him summoned to her like some mindless servant, but instead she chose to seek him out on her own. Nicolette wanted to show her husband that he was missed. She did not want him to think that she was ignoring his return to her. Searching for him was usually not that hard. He was, afterall, the only barefoot and shirtless person that wandered about the estate. |
