She saw the smile and laughed softly, distractedly. There were rarely a lot of answers with her father, but she was used to it. Most true things didn't have answers, or need them. He would be him, and that meant he'd find them and it meant they'd die one way or another. Beasts were direct like that... she wondered for the millionth time why there wasn't much of an echo of his powers in those of her siblings. Well, mostly Ludo... but then again, Ludo got lost in his own kind of beast sometimes... maybe that was what it was.
"There's some cookies. They baked them today." Vampire princesses were not supposed to like candy or slide down hallways and vampire princes weren't supposed to walk into doors... there were whole long lists of not-supposed-to's. She wondered if she followed them all, would she be better? She'd drift through hallways and be pretty and silent and haunted, and maybe she'd manage imperious sometimes, drink only blood and listen to old music with spiderwebs on it.
"Nets? Did you do a lot of fishing? Did you catch anything?" This entire concept was intriguing. Fishing was definitely a not-supposed-to for vampire consorts. "Were there water-fae? Humans have a legend about fish-women. Mermaids. I always wonder if they were real once."
