Premise The Night World isn't a place. It's all around us. It's a secret society of vampires, werewolves, witches, and other creatures of darkness that live among us. They're beautiful and deadly and irresistible to humans. Your high school teacher could be one, and so could your boyfriend.
The Night World laws say it's okay to hunt humans. It's okay to toy with their hearts, it's even okay to kill them. There are only two things you can't do with them.
1) Never let them find out the Night World exists.
2) Never fall in love with one of them.
As the millennium came and went, the members of Circle Daylight began to relax. When January 2, 2001 passed, they began to believe that they might be safe. The predicted apocalypse hadn't occurred and, normal prejudices aside, the world continued as it always had. Apart from a brief breach of security, hushed up with no small degree of difficulty, the Night World was sill a secret. They began to believe that just by gathering together they may have managed to prevent the feared darkness.
Life is never that easy.
While the millennium date was not accurate, it because obvious that the forces of darkness were still gathering and their numbers were not nearly enough. Desperate to bolster their forces, they began to seek out lost witches and shapeshifters in earnest, hoping that in getting to them before the other side, they might have a hope of preventing the apocalypse.
Currently:
This game is primarily set in the Night World universe created by LJ Smith. Any other LJ Smith works that would fit in to the universe, such as The Secret Circle, are also welcome.
It is currently May 2001, and things are canon up until the end of Witchlight.
At this point, Circle Daybreak has not found the New Salem witches, although this will happen quite soon in game.
