Who: Jon Robichaud & Sofiya Potter When: 7pm, Monday Where: Jon's place What: Dinner, Wine, ...getting closer? Rating: Low? Status: Closed/Progressing
How was it even possible that two hours could feel like an eternity? Sofiya knew she was more than prepared to teach the class. She had no problems with any of the students that came to the meet and greet. The rest of the faculty who had popped in over the course of her preparations had all seemed pleased, if not downright impressed, with the way she'd planned her curriculum. No, the real problem would be with the three parents who had already made it clear they wanted nothing to do with a new teacher. It didn't matter that another teacher had come in and vouched for her. It didn't matter that their children all took an instant liking to her. All that mattered was that Sof was a recent hire, and they didn't care for that.
She was so glad to finally be done with the meet and greet that she plopped down on the couch when she got home and sighed dramatically to the empty house. "Screw dealing with parents!" she yelled. Sure, the house was empty, but that didn't mean she couldn't let off a little steam. It wasn't like anyone was there to judge her for it.
Her phone buzzing was a surprise and when she saw the text from Jon, she leapt off the couch and darted to her room, not even bothering to close the door as she hurriedly cleaned up. She was so glad they'd decided on seven o'clock so she could grab a quick shower and make herself presentable again. Somehow, she was ready to go with some time to spare. So, she did her eyes and put on a little lip stain so she's have some actual color, and headed out.
Pulling up to Jon's house, she couldn't help but smile. He'd been right the other day. A glass of wine, a nice dinner, good company. It was exactly what she needed. Did she mention the good company?
Brushing her hair behind her ear, she hopped out of the car and walked up the front steps to knock on the door.
