Although Shannon usually hated Poppy, and he wasn't generally good with judging others' emotions, he couldn't help but feel sympathy for her. It wasn't hard to see that Poppy was genuinely upset, which meant Shannon had no idea what to do. As he bit his lip, Shannon put an arm around his coworker, wondering if that was appropriate, and how long until she would yank it off.
"What happened?" he asked softly, not entirely sure he wanted to know. It was one of two things; death or divorce. Neither option was any better than the other.
