The time ticked by slowly in the dark hallway. Elizabeth could only truly measure the minutes as they warped into hours by the temperature as it sank from warm to steadily colder and colder still. Without more than her school sweater to keep her warm, Liz sat miserably, shivering against the stone wall. She had not been prepared for such an abrupt outage; never in her seven years at Hogwarts had she anticipated such dramatic circumstances. It defied magic, and left the young girl without any sense or plan.
Earlier when exiting the Great Hall, Elizabeth had taken a more scenic route. It had been days since she had enough strength to pull herself from the library or her dorm and go to dinner. She had figured that an evening out should be spent taking in what she had missed - the windows would offer a wonderful, snowy view. And now? She was repaid with the terrifying illumination of the grounds as lightening struck again and again. The flashes were threatening, and Liz grew anxious thinking that they would inch close enough to shatter the windows she had taken refuge beside. So she had sent out a cry for help through the journals. Only she was shocked to find who had been the first to offer their help.
A light flickered in the distance as a candle approached.
"Hello?" Elizabeth questioned the flame. Despite knowing that Aidan -- Yaxley, she corrected herself. Despite knowing that Yaxley was on his way, Liz was still wary of those moving toward her. "I'm Elizabeth Goldstein, Ravenclaw seventh year..." her voice was weakened with fear. "... Marco..." She waited for some sort of Polo.
