With ease, Cassandra slid onto Evan's lap. Though she feared upsetting him, it wasn't Evan or his behaviour that frightened Cassandra. She had no idea of the things Evan had done, or the things he would do. Her qualms would all fall short when it came to Evan, however. He was quickly growing into a man who could do no wrong in Cassandra's eyes. She was blind to his faults when she looked at him, and Cassandra was perfectly alright with that. Besides, he knew her family history. He knew parts of her no one else did, and she was certain she knew parts of him no one else did. For those reasons alone, Cassandra was trusting of Evan, whether she liked it or not. Had she put two and two together, about his injuries, his disappearances, or his current magic, Cassandra would have chosen to ignore it. Her chosen ignorance helped her sleep soundly at night, and it would help her get through life sanely.
As Evan pulled her tight, Cassandra simply let her eyes close and enjoy his embrace. His words were nothing short of magic in her ears, and Cassandra gave a small smile to the darkness. "You needn't worry, darling. I understand your concerns." Tilting her head upwards, Cassandra leaned forwards and kissed the side of Evan's face. Not that she'd known where she was kissing until her lips made contact. "Have your eyes adjusted? I still can't see anything," she whispered. Though Cassandra was certain they were alone, something about the darkness urged quiet and mystery. If someone was around, they would have to strain to hear her whispers, and even then they likely wouldn't be correct. For now, Cassandra simply squeezed Evan's hand and enjoyed herself.
