Who: Lily Evans and James Potter. What: Tutoring, or a failure of that. Where: Secluded section of the library near When: Thursday evening, around 8 pm. Rating: PG-13? Status: Complete!
Lily was getting more than frustrated - she was furious. She couldn't understand why Transfiguration came so easy for people like James Potter and Sirius Black, but after six years, she still struggled to cast things that should be simple. She had approached Professor McGonagall at the beginning of term to ask for a tutor, since she was already miles behind in N.E.W.T.s level Transfiguration (which by some miracle she got into). She knew that to become a Healer, which was the career path she was looking into most, she had to receive at least an E in the course. And the way it was turning out now, that didn't seem very likely.
Her assigned tutor, however, made her want to jump off the Astronomy Tower. McGonagall obviously had something out for her, Lily was convinced. Otherwise, why would she make James Potter sit down and torture her with his attempt at teaching twice a week? She resigned herself to the situation after Black's party the previous Saturday, though, and told herself to try to focus for her education and future's sake. By the time the tutoring session finally rolled around - they had to shift their meeting after the catastrophe in the owlery - Lily was anxious to get it over with and hoped that it would be successful enough to get her to pass the upcoming test.
When it came to it, the session wasn't going very well. Lily thought James was being pretentious and not taking his time with someone who couldn't tell how different Switching Spells and Conjuring Spells were when casting. She was closing in on her boiling point, and she felt James wasn't helping matters. "Can you show me it again?" she asked, an edge to her voice.
