WHO: Emmeline Vance and Marlene McKinnon (OPEN to Order members to find them) WHEN: Friday Evening WHERE: Diagon Alley WHAT: The dead go marching out, two by two RATING: TBD
The sudden shift from the comfort of a warm lit room, closing a haphazard paper book, to the thick summer air of a Diagon twilight caught Emmeline by surprise. She froze, her eyes darting around to take in the surroundings that were now around her. Gone was the small bed with the little boy falling into a doze after a story. Instead it was replaced with the starkness of Gringott's bricks against the rest of the alley. As much as Emmeline knew about magic, this situation left her completely baffled. As far as she knew, spontaneous apparation without a wand was an impossibility, relegated only to theory that she had no interest in contemplating.
But it was the sight just to her left that caused her breath to catch. There was a woman standing next to her, a woman that she knew. Or at least it was someone that she had known. Standing next to her was none other than Marlene McKinnon, a friend that had died what seemed like a lifetime ago. But there she was, just like one of the old pictures that Emmeline had hanging in her hall. Reaching up, Emmeline pinched her own arm in some semblance of a test at her own consciousness.
"Marlene?" she asked slowly, not sure what to make of this situation. Either she was in a very odd dream and simply did not recall going to bed while within her subconscious, or perhaps there was something to this afterlife that people occasionally discussed but never seemed to truly comprehend.
