Ron returned from rummaging inside the tent with bowls and utensils completely oblivious to the fact that Hermione had been so kind as to buy him new socks. Socks were very important, he had heard. His father told him stories about how muggles in the army would have to change their socks a lot so they wouldn't lose their feet. He had always been a fan of socks, but he was a little put out that his favorite pair of bludger socks that his mother had knitted for him had huge holes in the sole.
"Here," Ron said rather abruptly as he handed each Harry and Hermione a bowl and a spoon. He put the fire out with a flick of his wand and then put spoonfuls of the beans and bacon stew into each of his friend's bowls. "I hope it's alright," he said a bit sheepishly before making his own bowl and sitting back down. "What're we talking about?"
