With the sugar quill still in her mouth, Hermione shook her head again when Ron said he should have given it to her earlier. "That's okay," she said, letting him know that he didn't have to give up his precious chocolate frogs. "One sugar quill is enough. Anything more and my parents would be able to tell when they come back," she added, though her good mood deflated a bit at the idea. What if she, Harry, and Ron weren't able to accomplish the task Professor Dumbledore had set for Harry? Would her parents ever come back then?
Luckily, instead of falling into a stupor from her thoughts, Harry joined them and Hermione smiled again as he wished her a happy birthday. "Thanks, Harry," she said and gestured for him to join them at the same time Ron told him to have a seat.
