She noted the deflated look on his face and instantly felt a twinge of sympathy. "Oh, Ron! It wouldn't have been wasted and nothing was ruined yet!" she exclaimed, shaking her head insistently. Really, the food wasn't quite ruined yet, though she was sure the taste would be marginally affected and dry, but they would still be edible. There was no harm done, not really, and he had tried!
When Ron sat back and fished out the sugar quills from his pocket, her eyes lit up. "Oh!" she exclaimed again and took it from him quickly. She could hear her mum and dad scolding her about cavities and how horrible sugar was for her teeth, but she hadn't had a sugar quill or anything remotely sweet since the summer. "Thank you, Ron!" she said and promptly stuck one end of the sugar quill into her mouth, svaouring the flavous as it caught her taste buds.
