Ron looked grateful at Hermione stepping in and helping him, but he still looked a little put-out that she had to help at all. He should have asked Harry how to make beans before he started. He looked into the bottom of the pot and shrugged. "Thanks, Hermione. It's good you showed up when you did or we'd have wasted that food."
Ron leaned back in his folding chair and pulled out a couple of sugar quills from his robe pockets. "Happy birthday, Hermione," he said sincerely as he handed one of them to her. "It's not much, but I haven't been able to get out at all lately."
