Character Name: Elaine Rachel Eos (Rachel) Age: 18 Birthday: September 17 Personality/History:
Rachel has a father Harley and a step-mother Imogene and a step-sister Indigo-Hope.
She struggles with school, finding it very hard to concentrate on academic crap. She's doing physical things like PE and Dance in her final year at school in an attempt to pass, but she's also doing Media Studies and she can't understand it.
Last year at her old school she stopped going because it was too hard. At first she was just leaving campus but eventually she ended up making her way to the school counsellor or the nurse almost every day because they listened to her. Like she told Zoe she has been on and off medication since she was about six and over the years there's been a long list of different diagnoses but nothing has really worked.
So Rachel dropped out of school and spent a lot of time being unable to get out of bed because of how she was a massive failure. Her father, unable to accept or admit that his daughter might fail, switched to homeschooling her and helped her fake enough of her results to pass. (which totally didn't help with her feeling like a failure NOPE DIDN'T HELP AT ALL.)
Then her father and stepmother, who are recently married, decided that she might have a better chance to finish high school at London College. Though she grew up with barely any money, her father's new wife is very well off so a more exclusive school wasn't a problem.
('It's your attitude that has to change, not just your school', said her step mother.)
She used to have a therapist she saw every week, but she stopped going when she changed schools. Leaving her old therapist behind was part of the 'attitude makeover' her stepmother insisted on, as she was convinced that talking about her problems every week was only making Rachel worse. Her father didn't disagree ('well you haven't been showing many signs of improvement, have you honey?').
Rachel, shocked and upset by the idea that her father thought she wasn't improving, let them end her sessions, and let them move her to a different school in a different city (they'd been living in Bristol since she was about twelve). Maybe it would help?
Rachel and her father moved into Imogene and Indigo's house a week before school started.
Indigo is fifteen and best friends forever with her mother. They do yoga together. She is very clever and only one year behind Rachel in school, even though Rachel is three years older. This is not a fact Indigo lets Rachel forget.
Rachel had a very rough childhood. Even at the best of times her memory is patchy, and doesn't remember a whole heap of it. She used to live with her mother, who was not a good mother, till her father got custody of her when she was about twelve. Her father was better but he is still an alcoholic who doesn't understand anything about anything.
