Character Name: Oops. Sophia Grace Marlow Age: 11 Birthday: November 18th
Personality: Sophia is a precocious 11 year old who has never wanted for a single thing in her entire life. Still, if you asked her for help she could give it in an instant. She is very interested in social justice, even at a young age, and has already started a programme at her school for recycling toys so they could be given to those less fortunate. She knows (even at 11) she comes from a place of privilege. She constantly points out when her father is throwing his white male privilege around, and has started a young feminists group at her community centre. She takes part in marches and rallys, and is a devout vegan, though never one who would shame another person for not being so. She has told off people for being high and mighty about veganism, telling them they're lucky to be able to be so choosy with their foods. She owns a mobile from fairphone which is ethically sourced, and tries hard to own clothes not made in warehouses by child labour. She has informed her parents they can afford to buy ethically and so they should.
But she's also a big nerd who loves reading high fantasy and anime graphic novels.
History: When Ross left Val, it didn't take him long to fall for someone else. That someone was Andrea Miller, a gender studies major at university just finishing her final year. She was younger than he was, but that didn't bother her, and the two of them were married before they had been dating for six months. Andrea was pregnant soon after, and instead of going on to be a major feminist author like she wanted to be, she became a stay at home mum to Sophia Grace.
And just maybe that's where Sophia's staunch morals came from, preached from a mother who felt like she had to express herself somehow. And if it wasn't going to be in the pages of a book, she was going to arm her daughter to survive in a world where the patriarchy exists.
When Sophie entered school, Andrea went on to study postgrad feminist theory, which only solidified Sophia's views more. Now Andrea is writing the book she's wanted for years, and Sophia is president of her class at school, leading in her own way. Together they want to do their bit to smash the patriarchy. They march arm in arm.
