Character Name: Petra Faye Walshe Age: 19 Birthday: December 3rd
Personality: She has no desire for adventure, enjoys routine, and is more practical than creative. She's genuine and friendly and pretty outgoing. (However, she gets jealous of others easily and hates that about herself. She knows it's her worst trait.)
She's been vegetarian since she was sixteen, unable to bear the idea of eating sweet lovely cows after growing up all around them. She used to just not eat beef, but decided that was silly and now avoids all meat.
She can often be found watching the news, and likes to keep a strong grip on things that are happening in the world around her, both locally and abroad. She considers herself to be quite political but others might not be so aware of that as she doesn't like arguments. She'd much rather talk with great animation to others who share her own view than try to convince detractors.
Petra is prone to bouts of depression that tend to manifest themselves largely as angry perfectionism. She'll be found gloomily/furiously rearranging all the books in her room so that the spines match, or cleaning and recleaning something over and over because it's never right, or composing an email all day before finally scraping it completely. While usually she's someone with pretty good self-esteem, her depressive moods mean she can spend weeks filled with self-doubt and self-loathing for no reason at all.
But even when she's happy, Petra has trouble really trusting her own instincts on things. She's always pretty sure others know what's going on better than she does. Although she's pretty traditional in a lot of ways, she doesn't ever want kids and she knows that when she actually tells her parents this it will sort of break their hearts. So she's keep it hush-hush for now.
She gets on well with her family though, and she loves both her sisters - the three of them have their stupid little sibling arguments, but they're friends.
History: Born in Camden, Petra's parents moved to Ickenham when she was four to start/run a dairy farm. She was raised there along with her older sister, Pearl (23), and younger sister, Louise (17). They all had a happy little family there and all was well with little drama to speak of.
She's been attending the same church since birth, the same one her parents married in, and although she's Christian she doesn't consider this to be one of her defining traits. It's an important part of her, but mostly she doesn't bring it up with people who aren't her friends/other Christians.
She was very effected by her grandmother's dementia a few years ago (she's since passed away) and it's because of her that Petra went on to study Mental Health Nursing at London University (that's most linked for my needs). She's just finishing up (or finished?) her first year and is living in McKinley Hall.
