Come back into the house, we'll... we'll help, said Leon.
Ambulance is coming! yelled Serenity.
"Fucking no," Carly managed to whisper, looking up towards the door from where she was on her hands and knees. Joss was there sitting on the floor. Had he seen her die? Again? Jesus Christ, fuck this.
She pulled the purple leather of her ruined jacket across her mouth, smearing the blood in a failed effort to clean herself up.
"No," she said, pulling herself unsteadily to her feet and shaking her head. "No ambulance. Not ambulance." Her vision swam for a moment as she stood, and she realised she'd lost a lot of blood. Her chest still hurt but she couldn't tell really if the wound had healed or not. There was blood everywhere and the slit in her jacket hid almost everything. It could have still be bleeding or it could have been phantom pain.
Unimportant. Couldn't stay.
Another shake of her head as she wrapped her arm around her own waist for support and turned down the driveway, moving slowly but with a sense of purpose. Away from here. Couldn't be here when the ambulance arrived.
