Doubt started to creep back in, making her wary enough that she didn't dig for her phone. Should she? Shouldn't she? What if she got his hopes up and realised it was a mistake and hurt him all over again? She made a little noise of frustrated anxiety and reached for her coffee with both hands, pulling it toward her.
