Flying (Flynn, Stephie, and momentarily Thomas)
The first time Flynn had ever flown, it had been from London to somewhere in America for a US leg of Spectre's tour. The first two decades of his life hadn't lent themselves to air travel, but well into his twenties, he had suddenly found himself on an airplane with no idea how in the hell something so big was going to remain airbourne. The usually stoic and laconic Flynn had sat beside Deirdre, clinging to her arm and asking her what every sound and bump was, and was turbulence a bad sign, and what does that light flashing mean, and how long does this flight take and does that sound mean we're dying?! Of course they had landed safely, and it had been the first flight of many. Air travel became commonplace, but always a means to an end. The thing they had to deal with before they could do their shows.
And then Flynn had experienced his first helicopter ride, winging it to a rescue. And then another. And another. Flying either meant work or war, never freedom.
Flynn wanted freedom.
He made his way to Thomas' house to meet with Stephie so she could take him on a flight for just that. He wanted to do something first though, and so he knocked on Thomas' door and was grateful when Thomas opened it.
Without hesitation, Flynn pulled a surprised but pleased looking Thomas into a crushing hug. "Thank you," he said, almost too quiet to hear.
"Not sure what you're thanking me for, but the hug is great!" Thomas said happily, patting Flynn on the back.
Flynn pulled away, though he wasn't quite able to look Thomas in the face yet. "Looking for Amaris I spent a lot of time in places I used to live. Because I didn't have a choice. I haven't forgotten it was you who saw me first, Thomas. You brought Spectre to Al's bar to see me play. Everything I have is because of you. Thank you."
There was silence between them, and Flynn managed to glance up quickly to make sure Thomas wasn't mad at him. But no, Thomas was just staring at him with a funny look Flynn couldn't quite place. "Sorry-"
Flynn didn't have time to finish saying what he was sorry for, because Thomas was hugging him again, and it was suddenly hard to breathe. Not that Flynn cared for a second as he clung to the larger man. "You're welcome," Thomas finally managed to grit out, because honestly what else could he say.
"Is Stephie watching this entire thing?" Flynn asked into Thomas' chest.
"Probably," Thomas answered over Flynn's shoulder.
