What would an engagement party be-
Who: The McCreary Pack and the Draoi Motorcycle Club
What: Jack announces her and AJ's engagement
When: September 21st
Where: The Den
Warning: Drama, violence, followed by a fade to black orgy

While the whole pack hadn't turned out for the announcement, a good majority of them were in attendance. There was piles of food on the tables lining the backyard of the newly renovated Den. There were a few members of the pack who already knew what was going on, there was plenty of speculation running rampant.

Especially since the Draoi were also invited. Some of the pack had warmed up to the alliance with the coven. They had been loosely allied since Olly had married Siobhan O'Shea, but with his departure, the relations between the two groups hadn't really gone anywhere. Until Jack McCreary beat her father and chose her brother as her subordinate alpha. Now the witches were in thick as thieves with the pack, much to the older members and some of the newer Lewis pack wolves chagrin.

Olly was sitting between his wife and his sister, waiting for things to settle down and everybody to get enough food and booze in them they'd be more likely to actually listen. Standing up, he put his fingers in between his lips and let out an shrill whistle that would even make the humans present wince. "Hey, listen up everybody," he announced. "My sister has an announcement to make." Smiling at her, he sat back down and let her take the floor.

He knew this wasn't going to be all cheers and drunken celebrating. This was some serious shit a large part of their newly expanded pack wasn't going to like. He was expecting some challenges to be thrown AJ's way. Hopefully, the shit could be dispersed without too much bloodshed. Especially with the Draoi in company. While they were passingly familiar with werewolf custom from being around him for years, they'd never experienced anything like what could go down tonight. The last thing they needed was one of his brothers in arms getting the wrong idea and making things worse trying to help out who they considered family.

He took another long drink of his beer. Here's hoping shit didn't go down too badly.

Jack winced a little at the sheer volume of her brother's whistle, closing one eye in the process. Guess they'd let everyone stew for long enough. She glanced to her other side, where AJ sat with a plate full of fried chicken in front of him, not unlike the one in front of her.

"Ready?" she grinned lightly, but there was a focus behind her eyes that belied the expectations she had of how this would go down. She'd told AJ that some people might get uppity, but to not let anything get to him. Old dogs didn't learn new customs very quickly. It was all a work in progress.

She stood up and cleared her throat, waiting until she felt all the eyes on her- wolves and leather/denim clad humans, mingling like they had for Olly's wedding (before she drank too much to remember). It gave her hope, but she was still going to be realistic.

"I'll make it short and sweet, so everyone can get back to more important things.." Like food and flirting. "AJ and I are getting married."

AJ nearly dropped his fork at the shrill whistle. Yeah, that got everybody's attention. He gave Jack a hesitant smile, taking her hand and squeezing it. He wasn't sure he was ready, but they had to do this.

He knew they'd be more than 'uppity'. Travis hadn't sugarcoated it for him, but he'd also told him that Jack's feelings were the only ones that should matter to him. He caught the older wolf's eyes across the distance as Jack stood up to speak. Travis was sitting next to a much younger woman who looked almost as nervous as AJ felt. She was practically clinging to the old wolf. He didn't know who she was, but he felt sorry for her.

The initial reaction was better than AJ expected. While there was definitely a murmur of gasps and some growling, there was a louder chorus of hoots and hollering drowning them out. Some of the cheers were pretty indecent, but good spirited. AJ still blushed a little as he looked up at Jack, pulling her hand in his to his lips to kiss the back of it. Which just started another round of catcalling from the more enthusiastic members of the crowd.

Travis knew what was coming. He'd been waiting on it. He knew that Jack and AJ were going to come out with their impending nuptials. He also knew that it wasn't going to be a completely happy reception to the news. He didn't care, though. He thought it was a damn fine idea. If anyone could anchor AJ down, it was Jack. She needed him, though, as much as he needed her. AJ was a good kid. A good wolf. He wanted the pack to realize that and what better way that for him to be right at Jack's side as an alpha. He could handle it. He could push down that wolf inside of him with the cursed blood and raise up the one with the good head on its shoulders.

He'd brought Chahna with him to the gathering because he wanted her to know several things about their pack. Firstly, that they wouldn't all immediately hate her for being a Redding like she was spoon fed to believe, and secondly that AJ wasn't as big a threat as he'd been made out to be. The way that Travis knew he'd handle the uprising that was obviously coming would be a testament to that.

He heard the grumbling around them, the growls here and there. But more than that were the hoots and hollers. It wouldn't last, not for long. That would truly show AJ's character. He could do it. He caught AJ's eyes across the gap, ever watchful over the new wolf.

Chahna was clinging to him for dear life and he slid his arm around her shoulders. "It's alright, love," he told her. "Ain't nothin' you need to worry about here."

Siobhan was happy for AJ and Jack, but she knew there were some who would protest the union. She didn't care if they did, because that was their right, but it wouldn't change anything. Siobhan just hoped the party would remain non-violent.

She smiled at the announcement, but glanced around at the faces surrounding them, almost daring them to cause trouble. It was a happy occasion and it needed to stay that way.

Chahna had been uncertain about going, mostly because she was afraid a lot of the pack still wanted to go to war with the Reddings. She was an outsider and wouldn't be welcome. To her surprise, she wasn't the only one. Olly's whole coven was there. She'd stayed close to Travis, if anything to clearly communicate to everyone she was with him.

She had spent awhile carefully studying the Cursed One causing all the hubbub. He was physically huge, but completely submissive to Jack. Actually, he was probably the meekest person she'd ever seen. It made her feel a little better. But she felt badly for him, because by the old standards, he should be nothing but an omega, barely tolerated by the others because he wasn't strong enough to run with top wolves. Being cursed and mated to the alpha was going to go over like a fart in church.

She took a drink of her beer, then smiled and clapped softly at the announcement. But a chorus of growls and grumbling from a group of young males just behind them had her moving closer to Travis. "I'm fine," she assured him, but snuggled into his side. If things went as badly as she feared they might, she might end up hiding in the Den to keep from embarrassing herself and Travis. Hopefully, the young bucks behind them wouldn't be stupid enough to start anything.

Trick knew about the soon-to-be bride and groom's news, but it still made him smile when they came out with it. He nodded at AJ and Jack, tipping an imaginary hat before clapping like the majority of the rest of the group. He heard a few rumbles of annoyance around him, but he glared at the nearest culprit with a steely look. He hoped he wouldn't have to throw some magical mojo on any rowdy fucking wolves, but he would if he needed to.

Amanda was casting the same sort of glare at a wolf near the middle of the crowd. She had a smile on her face and was clapping with the crowd, but she had a feeling that the man was none too happy about what was going on in the pack with her brother marrying the alpha. He could shove it up his ass, however, because it was going to happen, damn it. She turned her attention towards AJ and smiled at him, then at Jack. As far as she was concerned, it was the best thing that could have happened.

Briefly, she turned her head and pressed a kiss to Luke's cheek. "How long before people start freaking out?," she sighed softly.

The answer was 'not very long'. While the old dogs were indeed not happy; it was the young Lewis wolves that were ready to protest. More than one of them had unsuccessfully challenged Olly when they integrated into the pack, so that left currying favor with Jack for upward movement in the large pack. Except now, that path was being completely cut off by a cursed wolf who had never challenged anyone for the undeserved place of honor he currently enjoyed.

While many of them were still nervous after what Jack had done to Roger Lewis, his oldest son was done holding his tongue. She could come try to rip it out. But someone needed to stop this insanity.

"You can't be serious," he challenged as he pushed through to glower in front of the head table where they were seated. He walked straight up to AJ and Jack, growling at the cursed one. "He's never challenged for you. Never been challenged. He hasn't earned it."

Olly was on his feet, grabbing the upstart by his shoulder. "Back off, Lewis," he growled. This was pretty much what he expected. "You challenged me and lost. You don't get a say."

Lewis glared at Olly, jerking his shoulder out of his grasp. "I challenged you for alpha male," he spat. "Now I'm challenging him."

AJ wasn't sure what to say or do. He couldn't do a challenge. There was too much chance of completely losing control and rampaging through the werewolves. He stood up, at the urging of the instincts he didn't completely understand, but looked to Jack. She would know what to do.

Jack had known there would be tensions ever since they started planning the announcements. The glue that held the now massive pack together was stretched thin for various reasons- her marrying AJ would be an added strain that she'd already accepted might snap the bond for a number of wolves in her charge. The hairs on the back of her neck stood at attention even before Kevin Lewis broke rank. She was out of her seat at the same time Olly was, but stayed where she was when her brother engaged.

That is, until Lewis snapped directly at her mate. Jack could practically hear AJ's wolf snarl under his skin- the fact that he shot up from his chair, but stayed himself was an accomplishment she'd have to praise him for later.

For now, she had another Lewis in her sights.

"He isn't alpha-" she growled at the son of the man she'd maimed only a month earlier. "He's mine because I want him there." She'd put herself in front of Lewis, shoulders squared, fangs and claws already bared to show she fucking meant it.

"I took you all in-" she added, snarling with an emphasis that she intended to be heard across all ears gathered. "We fed you, hunted with you, and protected you when by right, I could've run you all out of the city. You got a problem with who I choose to mate, you better have the fuckin' balls to challenge me."

AJ had a grip on his wolf for now. It wasn't like he'd ever really been sheltered from the snarling and sniping that went on regularly in the pack. His experience as a cursed were was unique, since he'd been completely integrated (and mostly accepted) as a member of the pack. He was protected, but he'd seen this kind of thing as both a man and wolf. Not to mention there were three people in arms' reach who could activate his tattoo and at least a dozen more in shouting distance. Nobody was going to let him lose control.

Olly knew this was coming. The younger males had been reluctant to challenge Jack out of tradition. Fighting females for any reason was considered universally dishonorable by most male wolves. Besides, most of them wanted to mate with Jack, not fight her. For that, they needed Olly's position, not hers. Kevin would be the first younger male who challenged her directly, if he took up her challenge.

Kevin was clearly not keen to the idea. "What kind of male lets his mate fight his battles for him?" he spat at AJ, who visibly bristled. Olly shot Luke a look down the table. He could put out the huge cursed wolf with a couple of words, but that was a last resort. It would be much better if AJ didn't lose control.

"Are you challenging her or not, Lewis?" Olly demanded. "She's your alpha. You don't like her decisions, you take it up with her. If not, fucking sit down and shut up."

Kevin's angry yellow eyes snapped to Jack's brother. "Nice how you only play by the rules when they work the way you want, McCreary," he snarled back. Jack had been a good, traditional wolf before she let her damn brother back into her confidence. Now she was doing crazy shit left and right. It made a body wonder just how much influence the less traditional twin had over his sister or if he was using magic to control her. Everybody knew he used it to win fights.

"Fine," he growled. "I'm challenging you. Somebody's gotta stop this insanity." Cracking his neck, he leveled a yellow eyed gaze at the she-wolf. "I'm not old and slow like my dad. You really think you can beat me?"

AJ growled. Part of him was raring to accept the challenge thrown at him. He knew on an instinctual level it was the only way to get respect. He urge to defend his mate was strong. But he also knew the risks weren't worth it and Jack could easily handle Kevin as she had his father. He forced himself to relax, taking several deep breaths. He wasn't sitting down until somebody told him to, just to show the guy he wasn't afraid of him. If anything, AJ was afraid of killing him if the guy pushed him too far.

Travis stood up, having seen enough of the bullshit to know that he was fucking tired of people challenging Jack and her decisions. He gently brushed his fingers over Chahna's shoulder, then looked to his twin to watch over her. "I'll be right back," he told her. "If this gets too much for you, you can go on inside and I'll be in there to get you, alright?" He knew it wasn't going to be easy for her to deal with not being at his side, but he wasn't going to let AJ lose it. He was alright, for now, and breathing despite the young wolf's best efforts to rile him up and start more shit. No one needed an explosion on their hands.

Leaving his seat, he made his way over to the table, hand touching AJ's shoulder in gentle understanding. His eyes, however, were not as gentle as they narrowed on the young wolf before him. "You got a lot of nerve," he said. "Comin' in here and thinkin' you're gonna take over after Jack and Olly took you in. Got a lot of damn nerve challengin' someone that made sure your ass had somewhere to go. You think you can win a fight against Jack, young wolf? Old as I am, probably older than your father, I can still take ye'. Insanity," he laughed, shaking his head. "Insanity is doin' the same thing over and over an' expectin' somethin' different to happen. Like you, goin' up against Jack after your father already lost his shit doin' the same thing. Who's the insane one, really?"

Rosie, in her rare 'going out with the boys' sundress and Draoi leather vest, had been on her husband's arm watching the scene with a very specific kind of intensity. Emotions spiked when the announcement was made, and not all of them good. Now there was a confrontation imminent, and she was blocking as much of it out as she could.

"AJ wants to take him up on that beatin'" she whispered against Trick's shoulder. "Deep down, he's ready to kill'im." She said it as a warning. Together with him, Olly, and Shiva, AJ wouldn't get very far. But he wouldn't save face if he had to be put out. "I'll calm'im down." And she did. Putting a deliberate effort against all the tension was difficult, but Rosie injected AJ with a healthy shot of the same alpha-confidence and calm that was pumping out of her own husband: the powerful leader of a powerful pack of his own.

Meanwhile, Jack sneered at her challenger in a way that conveyed both her frustration and disappointment in him. She also stepped forward, into the circle of space that was already forming from the crowd. Snapping off her zip up hoodie and tshirt in the process.

"I thought you were smarter than this," she growled at him low. "Last chance to grow up, Kevin."

Kevin glared at Travis. "I wasn't talkin' to you, old wolf," he snapped. "Why don't you go back to robbin' the cradle?" He spat Chahna's direction. "I thought we were goin' to war with the Reddings? Or is this Micah's idea of a peace offering? Giving you Danny's cast off bitch because he didn't want her?"

Olly was getting between Travis and Kevin now. That was the most words he'd heard their uncle speak since he was five years old. But Kevin was trying to rile up everybody at this point. "Go sit down, Unc," he told him quietly. "Jack's got this." He patted Travis on the shoulder before turning his attention back to Kevin.

AJ's shoulders straightened, a stance nobody had ever seen him take before. His natural pose was slightly haunched over, as if trying make himself smaller and less noticeable, hide his size. The emotions Rosie pumped into him had given him a confidence he'd never really felt before. He caught Kevin's yellow eyed gazed with his still human one. "You don't need to do this," he said calmly yet assertively. "There's no reason to fight. Just go sit down."

Kevin was surprised at the change in the cursed wolf's demeanor. Apparently he'd grown some balls since the Gathering. But the way Jack looked down her nose at him, and her tone riled him right back up. "Somebody needs to put you in your place, bitch," he told her as he started unbuttoning his shirt. "Just because my old man couldn't do it, doesn't mean I can't."

AJ sighed but realized it was a losing battle to try and stop the fight. He sat down heavily, feeling guilty because it was his fault the guy was pissed off. He knew Jack was right and this was probably the only way to get through to the guy, but it still sucked.

Olly growled. "Fine," he said, then turned to his sister. "Give me your necklace." She didn't need her gris gris getting busted. Especially if wolves were going to start challenging her directly. Once he had it, Olly sat down heavily next to Shiva, dropping the necklace on the table. He took a long drink of his beer.

This was exactly the kind of shit that needed to stop.

Travis very nearly went over the table at the young, mouthy wolf, but Olly's shifting between them stopped him. The only reason he didn't move forward against his nephew's wishes was because he didn't want to fight in front of Chahna. things were difficult enough for her without seeing him go head to head with some young wolf.

"I think you're jealous, you cocky little fuck," he told him. "Because old as I am, I still found the prettiest she-wolf in the county and you ain't even got your cock wet yet. Pity." He stepped away from the group, prepared to let Jack handle the challenge the same way she always did; by winning. He wasn't worried that she'd lose because she was strong. If there was any alpha to have faith in, it was her. She had the good parts of her father, before he became the wolf he was. AJ grounded her in those good things and with Rosie's help, he'd calmed enough that Travis didn't feel badly moving away from him.

He also didn't feel badly for shouldering the shit out of Kevin as he walked back to his seat next to Chahna. "You alright, love?"

Trick was focused on AJ more than anyone else. His ears were open for Rosie's words, but his eyes were tightly fixed on the cursed wolf. Rosie was pumping him full of relaxation and confidence which was good, but he wasn't going to let his guard down. That was how accidents happened. "He'll be fine," he told Rosie. "With a little push from you, he's got this."

The more Lewis ran his mouth, the more painfully obvious it became that he took way too much after his father to rethink his current path. Undressing sharply beside her twin, she shook her head after clearing it with the magic necklace. He was never going to let it go. Not even when she beat him.

"You're gonna show me, huh?" Was the last thing her human vocal cords said before Jack's spine lengthened and her shoulders snapped in the fast shift- the nine foot she-wolf beast with grey and gold fur, claws spread wide and maw full of fangs bared in challenge.

"First shot's free, Lewis-" she growled raw and dangerous. "For what I did to your father when he couldn't learn to keep his mouth shut." Because he deserved everything she was about to hand down on him for the shit that came out of his mouth, but she needed to make sure the rest of the pack knew it too.

Trevor's wife Bianca had sensed Chahna's nerves and taken Travis' empty seat, trying to soothe the younger she-wolf. Everyone knew what had happened to the poor girl. This sort of pissing contest likely wasn't what she needed. She was relieved when her brother-in-law returned, even though it was obvious he was only holding in his anger at the Lewis boy for Chahna's sake. She surrendered Travis' seat back to him, stroking her fingers through the younger woman's hair gently as she passed behind her.

Chahna nodded at Travis' question, her eyes on the pair of werewolves squaring off. She leaned over, kissing his scarred cheek. "Thank you," she murmured quietly. He'd defended her, which was sweet of him. While she was feeling queasy from the high emotions around her, she wanted to see if Jack could actually beat a full grown male wolf in his prime. The thought was...liberating and she found herself getting new respect for the McCreary alpha for not being afraid to stand up for herself and her mate.

Kevin snorted at Jack's offer as he shifted forms, the sound turning into a growl. "I don't need any freebies, McCreary," he said. "I won't even go easy on you." He circled her, waiting for Jack to make the first move. He was insulted by the offer of a free shot. As if he'd need one against a female. The bitch was full of herself.

Travis murmured a quiet thank you to his sister-in-law and settled back into the seat beside Chahna. "It'll be alright," he told her, slipping his arm around her shoulder in a comforting gesture. "Jack knows what she's doin' an' that little punk deserves every bit of the whoopin' he's about to have handed to him." Jack was a good alpha. Travis would have followed her no matter what. She knew what she was doing and she had the pack's best interests at heart. She was protecting those that meant the most to her. Travis would have done the same had he been in her position. He was proud of her in that moment. As if he didn't always have that sense of pride radiating off of him.

His eyes flicked to the scene between Jack and Kevin. His smart mouth was going to get him in a lot of goddamn trouble.

"Is that right?" the thick animal-cords in Jack's throat rumbled- even in a physical state that was difficult to produce a wide range of tones, the scathing, acidic sarcasm and insult could easily be heard in her words. And as he circled her, Jack remained where she was. Keenly aware of her position in relation to the wolf stalking her, but she'd been on the receiving end of every dirty fight tactic there was in their world. She wouldn't have been where she was if she hadn't broken, torn, and blinded her way through physical trials since she and Olly were ten years old.

Chahna would've known from Micah (if he ever opened up) that Jack never backed down from any challenge. She was Deacon McCreary's daughter- he was the only thing she had ever feared. And look what she did to him.

"You know I went easy on your dad," she goaded when he rounded into her frontal vision. "Don't make me embarrass you the same way."

AJ quietly gathered up Jack's clothes and folded them, giving himself something to focus on besides his mate squaring off with another wolf. He looked over at his sister, reaching out to squeeze Mandy's hand reassuringly. "It'll be okay," he told her. He just hoped it didn't end up as bloody as the last fight Jack had faced. He didn't know if it was the tattoo or the fact there were so many people nearby who could put him out before he could freak out, but he felt oddly calm. His absolutely confidence in Jack wasn't odd though.

Olly was just as confident in his sister, but keeping his eyes on the rest of Lewis' buddies all the same. Luckily, not only was the rest of the pack there to keep them from interfering, but the Draoi were as well. Order was probably the least of their worries, but Kevin had clearly come into the pack planning to take over. Which was laughable, but considering what an egotistical little shit he was, not surprising. Considering how calm AJ was acting, he was pretty sure Rosie was influencing the guy with her powers. He'd have to give a big hug later for it. It would save them a lot of face if AJ didn't have to be put under again.

Kevin growled again. "You gonna rip out my tongue too?" he snarled. "Yeah, that's definitely something your daddy wouldha done. Don't like what I say, I'll just silence you. Guess we're both chips off the ol' block, huh Jack?"

In her current form, the expression of a smirk translated as the wrinkling of her muzzle, which bore just a few more inches of fangs. She snorted with clear disdain. A humorless chuckle followed it.

"One of us is," she sneered. "Daddy had to talk himself up to throwin' down with me, too."

Then she went in for the proverbial kill.

"How'd you think this was gonna go, Kevin? Think I'd stick my ass in the air for you after my brother put you on your back? Or were you gonna try and take me by force?" Jack laughed hard and cold at that idea- archaic as it was to begin with, if Lewis even tried, he and his whole family would be torn apart. "'Cause what I'm seein' right now is a sore loser who can't pay the checks his mouth is tryin' to cash."

Amanda knew that it was going to be alright, but it never got any easier to watch her friend strip and square off with a fully grown male. Her stomach churned, but AJ's fingers squeezing hers made her feel a little better. Her eyes were on her friend, then flicked back to her brother. "Are you alright?," she asked him, fixated more on his control than anything else. "I'm right here," she promised him. "You're doing fine." It was so much easier to concentrate on keeping him grounded than on what was transpiring before them. She had plenty of confidence in Jack, but it was still not the easiest thing to witness. She wasn't sure that she would ever really be able to get used to the way that it felt to watch the people she loved have to fight for their position in the bloody way the wolves had to.

Her eyes snapped back to Jack when Kevin started talking about being chips off the block. The sound that she made was about the closest thing to a growl ever to grace the lips of a human. "What a bastard." Jack came through in fine fashion, though, more than ready to put the little twerp in his place.

AJ nodded to Mandy's question. "Better than last time," he assured her absently. He couldn't remember at the moment if he'd told his sister about the Gathering and what happened. It didn't really matter. He was feeling much calmer about the whole thing. Especially since it was more just circling and insults. He'd learned early on most challenges weren't the bloody horrible affairs that Jack's fights with Deacon and Lewis Sr. had been. That helped. "Maybe he'll get smart and back down." He could hope anyway. That was always an option in wolf challenges.

Kevin, however, wasn't having that. "Please," he spat. "How long do you think before your own pack gets tired of you and your brother's shit, Jack? Bringing outsiders. Fucking witches. Cursed wolves. Changing things. It's only a matter of time, bitch. If it isn't me, it'll be somebody else." With that, he kicked a clawful of dirt and grass at Jack's face and lunged. He didn't need the dirty tactic to beat her, but he wanted to take her down fast to prove a point. She wasn't an alpha. Just a jumped up bitch who thought she could tell the rest of them how to live.

The rain of dust and gravel hit it's mark, but Jack had been watching him much closer than he apparently took into account- she'd tracked the way his claw tensed like second nature- it was hardly the first time she'd been on the receiving end of a cheating blow like that- more times than other, it was from her own father. Teaching her exactly how to deal with it and come out the other end.

Too bad for him, he'd forgotten how much he passed on when he went insane.

Jack didn't recoil from the debris, only shut her eyes to protect them from harm. Lewis's claws buckled the ground close enough for her to feel it. Jack ducked low, under the brunt of his lunge, letting her elbow catch him straight in the throat with all of his own momentum. It dropped the big-shouldered wolf like a choking stone.

And now Jack's eyes were open. With a snarl, she was ontop of him- her hind claws digging inch-deep graves in his thighs, ready to shred them if he so much as thought about rolling over. She slammed the side of his muzzle with an open claw, marking him for insolence before the other arm swung down on the other side, the fist closed like a brick, to knock the challenge (and a few memories) out of his head. Before he even had a chance to spit out the blood, her jaws were around his throat, squeezing hard enough to block most of the air- a Last Warning growl resonating loud and long in the back of her throat.

Olly rolled his eyes as Lewis tried the exactly same shit on his sister as he had on him. Jack put the fucker down even faster, because the other wolf had seriously underestimated how fast and strong Jack was. He took another drink of his beer, waiting until Kevin had still in surrender before getting up. "May I?" he said to AJ as he picked up his sister's clothes from the table. It was over.

Amid cheers and hooting (especially from the Draoi who'd actually never seen a challenge and were really fucking impressed how fast Jack had taken down the bigger, stronger wolf), he crossed to them.

Handing Jack her clothing, he leveled a blue gray glare at Lewis' friends. "Anybody else?" he asked as he reached down to haul Kevin off the ground. "Since he's such a chip off the block, think he gets the same deal as his daddy?" Minus ripping out his tongue of course. Jack didn't need anymore bad press. But a year banishment should send a message that they weren't putting with bullshit.

Jack didn't shift back just yet. Towering over her brother's human form, she faced the would-be dissenters by his side, blood pinkening three sets of claws and even a little bit in her teeth. The fact that her fur was so pale only made the bright red stand out in the setting sun.

"Let me be clear," she growled- not at them, but to everyone at the gathering. "In this pack, mates are chosen. You love who you love, not who you think you can win. If you're unhappy with that, come try and change my mind." The way she snarled that last bit was a direct challenge to anyone who even thought about pulling shit like this again. Over such a stupid, useless tradition. "Or you can keep Kevin Lewis and his father company in banishment."

Travis couldn't have agreed with Jack's sentiments more. While the old ways were well and good, there were some things that should be amended. He glanced at Chahna briefly, then turned his attention back towards his niece and nephew. She knew what she was doing. She was making the choices that she needed to make for the good of the pack, even if they weren't the most welcomed. Times were changing and she was helping change the pack with them. It was a step in the right direction, he thought.

Another rumble went through the crowd, but nobody was stupid enough to challenge Jack right now. Not after she had taken down a bigger, stronger male in three seconds. Olly looked over at Travis and Trevor. "You want to take out the trash?" he offered his uncles. After the shit he'd spewed about Travis' new girlfriend, he'd earned himself an old fashioned asskicking.

AJ was relieved when it was over so fast. He was also not standing up because that had been hotter than it had any right to be. And he was sitting right next to his sister. He smiled reassuringly at Mandy, then took a drink of his tea.

Every single set of eyes in the clearing were on Jack- she knew not just because more than two hundred intense gazes were a tangible thing, but also because she'd earned that reverence. That respect. She was Alpha, having just laid down the law, with the smell of a rival's blood in her mouth- her own was pumping hard with every drop of whatever she'd been born with that made her destined for the Top.

As she watched her uncles drag the half-conscious defector toward the packlands border, she shifted back down to her skin- just as smeared with blood and dirt as it had been with fur. Her fangs and claws were gone as she turned back toward the main table, but her eyes were still fire-gold, and burning.

Five wide, brusque steps carried her swiftly over the grass and gravel, but instead of going around the main table to her seat- she nimbly leaped on top of it. AJ, directly across from her, locked in her sights. With a growl in the bottom of her throat only those nearby could hear, she stalked forward, like her wolf would, settling in a straddle across his lap and catching her mate in a claiming kiss.

Amanda watched in both fascination and horror as the fight went on. When it was over - quickly - she let out a sigh of relief. She looked to Luke, then to her brother, then to Jack as she firmly fixed herself at the top of the pack as per usual. She couldn't help but beam a little when her best friend showed them all who was boss.

She wasn't, however, prepared for the way that Jack shifted back, bounded towards the main table, stood atop of it, then straddled her brother and kissed him. She blinked and blushed, averting her eyes from the goings on beside of her. She didn't know whether to be embarrassed, confused, or mildly turned on by everything happening around her.

Her focus went to Luke and she shifted slightly, standing and moving out of Jack and AJ's way. Yeah, watching her best friend lay claim to her brother in surround sound and HD was not something she really planned on. So, she grabbed Luke's hand and tugged him up from the table. "Not gonna watch my brother get laid, let's get outta here," she murmured, giving his fingers a squeeze and leaving the table. AJ would be fine. Better than fine, she was sure.

AJ would have been embarrassed if his wolf didn't completely overrule his human side when Jack jumped over the table and straddled his lap. Yeah, not thinking. He let out a low growl, his arms going around her waist as he returned the kiss just as hungrily. He'd thank his sister for vacating the premise when he remembered she'd been sitting right next to him when Jack jumped him, but right now the world had narrowed his mate and the high of knowing she wanted him so much she just kicked some guy's ass and kicked him out of the city over it.

He didn't even think, just stood up and pinned Jack to the spot on the table she'd cleared when she'd jumped on it. He let out a growl at he clawed at the buckle on his belt and fastenings on his jeans. Jack might be naked, but he had way too many clothes on.

Yeah, it was definitely time to break up the party. Although it was doing that on it's own since Jack had made her points. Olly chuckled and looked at Shiva, hopping over the table himself. Pulling her from her chair, he tugged her away from the tables. The party was definitely over. Or just beginning depending on your perspective.
