Give me two pina coladas
Who: Raj and Chahna with the pups to start
What: Organizing a night on the town
When: September 13th, Saturday Night
Where: Raj's place to start
Warnings: TBD

Raj wanted his sister to have a night on the town and he was determined to get his way no matter what it took. He'd bought the dress as a bargaining chip and fully intended to spoil his niece and nephew with pizza and all the Disney movies they could stand. By the time she arrived, he'd already ordered the pizzas and had it sitting on the counter, the dress draped over the sofa for her to see.

"Hey big sis," he told her, grinning at her. "Get dressed and get out." He couldn't help the smirk that swallowed up his grin. Reaching out, he took Marcus from her and flashed him a smile. "Pizza?," he asked the little boy.

Chahna and Raj both usually worked Saturdays, but serendipity had arranged it so both of them were off on the same Saturday. He'd guilt tripped her about never seeing her or the pups and offering food and an escape from the remote Redding farm. Things were getting less tense since the truce between their pack and the McCrearys, but Chahna missed her brother.

Except apparently this was one of Raj's tricks. She had barely gotten a hug when he indicted the gorgeous dress on his couch and all but ordered her to go out. Enya was less interested in the food than the dress, although Marcus immediately nodded and put a stranglehold on his uncle and started chanting pizza like he could summon it if he said it enough times.

"Mommy look!" Enya said, plucking it from the sofa. "It's pretty! You're gonna put it on, right?"

Raj got a very dirty look. He had to know exactly how her daughter would react. "I don't have any of my jewelry," she sulked. "And barely any makeup. I can't go out." She wasn't giving into Raj's trickery that easily. No matter how tempting it was.

Raj chuckled at Marcus, but Enya reacted accordingly. "Yes, Mommy is definitely going to be putting it on," he told his niece. Then she's going to go out and you get to stay with me and watch all the best Disney movies. I was thinking that maybe we start with Tangled. What do you think?" Of course his sister wasn't going to rush out the door easily, which he'd figured, however, she underestimated him.

He gave her a look that clearly said she doubted his abilities. "Make up is in the bathroom, so is jewelry that I bought to go with it, so you're still going out. Even bought dangly earrings that have little glittery bits. Think I'm going to let you get away with not going? Psh. Try again."

Enya gave her mother an expectant look. "Come on, Mommy," she insisted. "It's so pretty. You'll look awesome." God, her daughter had played right into her brother's hands.

Raj got another glare. "You're lucky you have better taste than most women," she grumbled as she took the beautiful dress from Enya. "You're supposed to say I'm so beautiful I don't need make up or jewelry." She could at least lord that over him for six seconds. "So where am I supposed to go?" Yes, Chahna was going to be difficult. Since he had tricked her.

"You are so beautiful you don't need make up or jewelry," he told her. "But you're also a woman that likes both," he reminded her. "In just the right amounts. And you're supposed to go out to the bar. I even wanna donate some cash to your fund, don't want you coming home til midnight and am fully prepared for you to take a cab home and lemme pay for that too. You deserve a night out, sis. It's been too long." She could be difficult if she wanted to be, but he wanted her to get out of the house and actually have some time to herself without having to worry about the kids. She needed it. He knew she did.

"So no more arguing," he smiled. "Humor me. And catch yourself someone fine."

"You're a brat," Cha Cha concluded. "Tell me how beautiful I am after I've gotten ready." Yeah, she was going. Enya clapped and jumped up and down like she was the one getting a new dress and jewelry and going out. "Go have pizza and find a movie to watch. Something Marcus likes too." Which was everything and nothing, depending on her son's moods.

She kissed Raj on the cheek, nuzzling softly. "Thank you," she said, then headed off to take a shower, get changed and try to figure out what to do with her hair. The dress begged for some kind of updo and she had some bobby pins in her bag that would work.

"I am, but you love me," Raj told his sister, a broad smile on his lips. "And of course I will." He was just glad she'd conceded, but he knew she would. He had more than his fair share of skills in persuasion. Enya's excitement made him laugh a little. Moving with Marcus, he settled his nephew on the floor in front of the television. "Lemme get this kiddo some pizza and we can pig out and watch movies all night," he told Enya, winking at his niece.

The kiss he got made him smile. "You're welcome," he told her. "You deserve it."

It took her almost an hour before she was satisfied with her appearance. By then the pizza had been consumed and Marcus was asleep in Raj's lap in wolf form. Enya rushed over to her, clapping her hands. "You're so pretty!"

Chahna smiled, but her daughter thought she was pretty no matter what. "Thanks, baby," she said, leaning down to kiss the top of her head. She looked over at her brother. "Don't wait up," she said sarcastically as she crossed over to him. She leaned down to kiss his cheek, then reached to gently scratch her son behind his ears. "Be good for Uncle Raj," she bade her daughter before taking a deep breath and rolling her shoulders. She could do this. She had loved going out once upon a time. So why did she feel so nervous and overwhelmed? "I'm going," she promised Raj. "I just need a minute."

He smirked at her when she said not to wait up. It amused him, but he knew that she was a bundle of nerves. His fingers moved over Marcus's furry little body and let a grin slip over his lips when his sister kissed his cheek. "You really need this," he told her. "It's about time that you got some time to yourself. Nothing to think about. Just relax and have a drink, dance, flirt. I know you got it in you. We're cut from the same cloth."

She did need this. But it was like the last step in admitting her marriage had completely failed. Chahna could talk about moving on and starting over, but doing it was entirely a different matter. It was part of the reason she'd pursued Micah. And why it had ended in disaster. Now she had to go back out there and take chances and pray she didn't get hurt so badly again. Chahna wasn't sure she was ready for that.

"That cloth's been altered a lot, Rajeesh," she reminded her brother. Slashed and torn, drug through the mud, and roughly sewn back together trying to keep too many pieces from falling off. Chahna sighed. "Yeah," she agreed finally, knowing she was being dramatic and he was right. "It'll come back to me. Like riding a bike."

Raj knew that it was hard for her, but he also knew that it was time for her to let go of her husband and start living her life for herself. She'd had enough heartbreak and she deserved better. Maybe she wouldn't find it in a bar, but at least she'd get herself out there and actually working towards finding something more, something better. He wanted that for his sister.

"Cloth has to be altered a lot to make something beautiful," he told her. "By the time you get done, you're going to be the prettiest thing that anyone's ever seen. The cuts and shifts and sewing will be worth it," he promised her.

She knew Raj was right. About all of it. It was harder than he could know. Actually Chahna hoped he never came close to knowing what it was like. The mate bond was sacred, even though Danny had broken it first, she felt a little like she was doing something wrong. Maybe it was just all of the doubts he'd put in her head. She smiled over at Raj. "I'm not already?" she teased lighter than she felt. "I'll be fine, little brother. Now stop trying to make me mess up my make up." One last breath and she smiled at her brother and children. "I'll be back." Hopefully later rather than sooner, but she made no promises. This was a big, scary step after all.

He knew she felt that she was doing something wrong and breaking her promises to her husband. He could feel for her on that regard, but he wanted her to experience love with a mate that wasn't a piece of shit like Danny had been. He hadn't always been that way, Raj knew, but that was the man he was now. He wasn't good, not like Chahna deserved. He smiled at her and nodded. "Have a good time," he told her. "I'll see you when you come back."
