Hard Day's Night
Who: Cha Cha and Micah
What: Early morning chat
When: August 17th, Early Sunday morning
Where: Redding Farm
Warning: TBD

Chahna was late getting home from work, since the thunderstorms that started just after midnight had made the backroads leading to the farm treacherous. It was almost five am when she pulled into the yard. The sun was up and her children would be waking up soon. She'd probably have to wait until after breakfast to get any sleep. Oh well, the bad weather had brought in good business and she had cashed in good on the extra customers.

Letting herself into the kitchen, she set her bag down on a chair and sank into another one. Reaching into her purse, she pulled out the wad of cash. She'd deposit most of what she'd made into the family's account, but she'd made enough extra to buy Enya some clothes for school. Maybe even something pretty from a department store instead of the sale rack at Wal-Mart or Target. To celebrate her first day of school.

Stacking the money neatly, Cha Cha folded her arms in front of her on the table. She needed to stay awake a little longer, to get breakfast ready when everybody started to wake up. She probably had time for a shower. She stunk of horny men and booze. Now she just had to get up and do that. In a minute...

Micah was up and dressed, even though it was early as fuck. He had things to do before driving into the city, and he wanted to get them done before it got to be too late. With most of the house still sleeping, he started downstairs, lighting a cigarette as he went. He knew Chahna had gotten home already, having heard her car and then watched her walk inside from his bedroom window.

When he found her at the kitchen table, Micah walked past her, eyes ticking briefly to the money before he grabbed the empty coffee pot to fill with water, his cigarette hanging from his lips. "You need a shower," he said simply. It wasn't meant to offend. But she smelled like liquor, which was okay, and human men, which wasn't.

Cha Cha had been half dozing when Micah came into the kitchen. She started a bit at his voice, looking up at him. "Did I fall asleep?" she asked, raking her hands through her dark hair. Pushing herself to her feet, she grabbed part of the stack and offered it to him. "If you're going into the city, can you deposit this? I have to take Enya shopping for school things Monday or Tuesday, it I'd rather not have it lying around." Especially since Quill had been around. Nice girl, but she was a junkie and would do anything to get her fix.

He set the coffee pot on to brew before turning to stare at her, and then the money in her hand. Did she really expect him to run errands for her? Micah took the cigarette from his mouth and then turned away to grab a coffee mug from the cabinet, leaving her with her money. "Leave it on the table. I'll have one of the others do it for you."

Yeah, she should have known better. Chahna pulled her hand back. "Don't worry about it," she said. "I'll call Raj and have him do it." Not that she didn't trust the others. Micah was apparently in a nasty mood this morning. Or she was tired enough she was taking it more personally. "Or ask Shelley. She tell you she's staying?" Cha Cha was glad her sister-in-law had decided to see reason. At least one of them did.

Shoving the money back in her purse and picking her bag up from the chair, she looked over at Micah. "You're not going to look at or talk to me until I take shower," she concluded wearily. "Fine." Hauling her purse and bag, she headed towards the ground floor bathroom.

Micah wasn't in a mood. He just wasn't in the habit of hauling someone else's money around unless he decided it belonged to him instead. He set the mug down and turned to lean back against the counter top as the coffee brewed, watching Chahna with a raised brow as she walked off.

"Pretty sure I just spoke to you when I told you to leave the money on the table," Micah said as he pulled the cigarette from his mouth. "And I ain't magical enough to keep my eyes on you at every second while I'm tryin' to make coffee. Believe it or not, I'm capable of talkin' and doin' shit at the same time. So it don't make any sense to assume shit, when I just did the two things you said I wouldn't."

Cha Cha rounded. "That money is for the household, Micah," she said. "That's why I was giving it to you. For the farm's account. The weather brought in a ton of customers, so I had extra tips." She probably could have explained it better, but except for a nap the afternoon before, she hadn't had any sleep since Friday morning. "I'm sorry." That was the best way to sum up being a bitch for little reason. She was worried, tired, and tense. "Let me take a quick shower and I'll start breakfast." It would take her long and maybe when she didn't stink of booze and horny humans, she would be less grouchy.

A small smile played across her lips as she stopped again. "Unless you want to let me make up being a bitch to you?" The other side effect of her job. Smelling horny men all night made her horny. "There's room for two in there..."

He considered her offer for a brief moment, but Micah had things to do, and it would be far too easy to let himself be distracted by a pretty female.

"Gonna have my coffee," Micah said, keeping his tone even as he studied her face. He wasn't aiming to offend her, but the offer was just given at the wrong time. "And you haven't slept in awhile, so it's best I don't wear you out anymore. Get your shower."

Cha Cha wasn't offended. She smiled at Micah, a promise of a rain check later. She was curious where he was off to so early on a Sunday morning, but didn't want to pry. "I'll be right back." She wasn't planning on taking very long, just because she didn't have a lot of time to get breakfast going.

Less than fifteen minutes later, she was back in the kitchen. Dressed in a brightly patterned sundress and with her wet hair tied back from from her face. "They don't have you working on a Sunday?" she asked, curiosity getting the better of her as she started digging out ingredients for breakfast. Most construction sites were closed on the weekends, but if they were crunching the deadline they might expect him to work.

While Chahna showered, Micah finished his cigarette before pouring a cup of black coffee. He sat down at the kitchen table to drink it, not very concerned with having breakfast just yet, if at all. He had plenty of things on his mind, and food wasn't one of them.

When Chahna returned, he sipped more of his coffee, but watched her in the kitchen. "No. Just got things to take care of in the city," Micah replied. "Don't wanna be there all day, so I'm going early."

Chahna nodded as she started some oil in the pan for frying eggs. She couldn't blame him, especially since there was a Sox game late that afternoon. Traffic would be ridiculous. Filling the pan with scrambled eggs, she looked over at him. Cha Cha looked over at him. He looked so serious and distracted. She smirked a little, undulating her hips teasingly. Hoping for a smile at least. Micah was usually serious, but he was worse than usual. She knew why, but if he wanted to talk about it, he would. No amount of needling would do any good but make him clam up.

"You should have someone watch the kids so you can sleep," Micah told her. People were no good to him if they were constantly exhausted. He knew she had a job that required her to work late, but she also had kids to take care of, and Micah viewed that to be more important than taking off clothes for a living.

"I will after breakfast," she assured him. "I haven't seen my pups since dinner last night. I want my hugs before I pass out." It was sweet he worried about her and the kids.

Speaking of, Enya wandered into the kitchen. She was dressed in purple ruffly Monster High pajamas with Clawdeen Wolf on them. Chahna had rolled her eyes, but her daughter loved the idea of a werewolf Barbie doll. She went to her mother first, giving her a quick, sleepy hug before heading straight for Micah. "Mornin'," she mumbled, rubbing her eyes before trying to climb into his lap. "Marcus snores. He's loud." It was her usual complaint and always made Cha Cha laugh. At least Enya remembered to say 'good morning' to her uncle before she started whining for attention.

Micah allowed Enya to sit on his lap and he responded to her complaint with a small noise in his throat. "Someday you'll have your own room, and I bet you'll miss his loud snores." He drank more of his coffee before setting the mug down on the table. As much as he loved his brothers kids, it felt wrong on some level that they lived in Micah's home while Micah had no kids of his own. It was by choice, of course, but Micah would have been lying if he said he hadn't expected to have a few pups of his own by now.

"I won't," Enya protested, wrapping her arms around Micah's shoulders as she nuzzled his chin. "I'll sleep and sleep and not get woken up because he rolled on his back."

Chahna chuckled again, stirring the eggs. It was very wrong they had to live with Micah at the farmhouse and that he had no pups of his own at his age. Both had been his choice, and she was grateful for it. But sad for Micah as well. He needed to give up on Jack and take a mate. "Did you try to wait up for me again?" she asked Enya. She hated when her daughter did that. But she understood why. She'd lost her father a little over a year ago. Enya was probably still worried about losing her mother too.

The little girl shrugged. "Only a little while," she grumbled, snuggling into Micah more. "Aunt Red told me you'd get home faster if I went to bed. So I did." She brightened and looked up at her uncle. "It worked. Aunt Red is smart."

"Yeah, she's smart." Micah chuckled softly before standing up and carefully setting Enya down in his chair. He was aware that the pack thought it was time he took a mate, but Micah did things on his own time, and the truth was, he wasn't ready. He didn't know if he'd ever be. But he had his pack, and his blood family, and he was content enough with that now.

Since he was getting ready to leave, Micah looked at Chahna pointedly before he picked up the money she had left behind. "Get some sleep. I'll deposit this for you." He knew he had said he wouldn't, but maybe he was feeling a touch more generous now.

Chahna put a plate of eggs and a couple pieces of toast in front of her daughter as Micah settled her in the chair. She was pouring her a glass of milk as he picked up the money. She smiled at him. "Thanks," she said. "Be sure you eat something while you're out." She leaned up on tiptoe to nuzzle his cheek before stepping away to set her daughter's milk on the table.

Enya hopped up long enough to give Micah a hug. "Bye," the little girl piped up before sitting down again to devour her breakfast. Chahna smiled and set about starting something for the rest of the house when they woke up.

Micah nodded once. "I will." He'd grab something on the road, at least, if he got hungry enough. Micah returned Enya's hug and then brushed his hand over the top of her head once she sat. He said nothing more as he turned to head out, eager to get into the city and get his business finished with.
