Bearer of Good News
Who: Jack and Jason, then Olly, Shiva and Mandy
What: No murder charges, huzzah!
When: August 13th, Early Wednesday evening
Where: Phonelines, the Den
Warning: TBD

It'd been five pm before Jo finally got an answer out of her boss about if there was going to be a case against the McCreary twins. But some miracle of God, the DA had decided it wasn't worth prosecuting them. Especially considering the laundry list of crimes Deacon McCreary was responsible for. Jason didn't care about his reasons, he was just glad the case was dismissed. Better still, Frankie Murphy had decided since his two co-conspirators were dead, he wanted to cut a deal. That officially closed the case that had started with Jack McCreary getting shot and ended in more bodies than Jason wanted to think about. He filed packed everything up in a box and marked it as closed before taking it to the evidence room to be put away. Closing a case often gave him a sense of relief and closure, but not as profound as this one.

Now if he could just find his blue handprint serial killer before it struck again, he might be able to sleep at night again... But one thing at a time.

Jason was done for the night and was looking forward to not only going home to have dinner with his daughters without Gavin Breckenridge and Hannah making eyes at each other, but now he got to call Jack and let her know she and her brother were off the hook. Dialing her phone as he walked towards his SUV, he waited for Jack to pick up.

Olly smiled at Amanda as she made an appearance and echoed their relief. "Yeah, that'd be good," he agreed as he reached out to grab his sister around the waist and lean her against his shoulder. "Thanks, Mandy."

Well, she was going to fix that. Amanda headed through to the kitchen so she could set about making something for Jack to eat. She knew that she should probably eat something herself, so maybe she would. Right now, though, it was easier to concentrate on Jack and the relief that welled inside of her now that she knew they wouldn't be getting carted off to jail.

It didn't take her long to come back with a plate full of massive sandwiches. Since she'd been spending more time around the pack lately, she'd learned pretty quickly that Jack wasn't the only one with a massive appetite. Setting the plate down next to Jack, she smiled gently at her. "Eat up," she told her. "You need your strength. And these are awesome, seriously. I know because I made them and I'm awesome." Maybe a little joking would boost their spirits. The both of them looked like they could use it as much as she felt she could herself.

Siobhan had returned to the cabin with the kids, having let them run through the woods, chasing one another. It had helped them work off some energy. As they neared the cabin, Jackie and Shea took off after one of Olly's aunts, and when she waved at Siobhan that it was all right, Siobhan headed into the Den with Kiera to check on Jack and Olly.

She stepped inside and paused, glancing around at the faces. Olly was leaning against Jack, and she wasn't sure if she ought to feel worried or hopeful. "What's going on?"

Olly was sure as soon as the kids smelled the sandwiches, they'd be in there. Unless someone had just fed them. Which was a possibility. It was a pack thing. If there was a pup around and he or she needed something, you took care of it. It was the way the entire pack had been raised. That was probably going to take Shiva some getting used to. He might ask them to ask Shiva first when she was around, just because it was human tradition to do that. Part of the transition.

He smiled wearily at Shiva. "They're not pressing charges," he told his wife, relief clear in his voice. Letting out a long breath, he added. "Mandy, come here and hold Jack up. I want to kiss my wife."

Amanda did as Olly asked her to, moving to settle next to Jack. She wanted to make sure the woman got something into her system and Olly deserved to get some kisses from his wife, especially after the news they'd just gotten. She doubted it would stay with kisses, though. "If you guys wanna spend some time celebrating," she began, knowing they'd understand exactly what she meant, "I don't mind watching after the kiddos for a while," she smiled. It would help her as much as them, really. Something to take her mind off of her brother and everything that was going on.

And, of course, the cute factor.

Relief flooded Siobhan to the point where she exhaled audibly and squeezed Kiera a little more tightly. When Olly crossed to her, she slid the arm not holding their daughter around his shoulders and kissed him. Siobhan pulled back and arched a brow at Amanda's offer before turning her questioning look on Olly. It was really up to him if he felt comfortable enough leaving Jack. She knew the kids would be well taken care of, regardless.

Jack hadn't said anything for a while for two reasons- one, her exhaustion was at it's peak, and the remainder of her concentration right now was going straight to the other reason- stuffing her face. So consumed was she in the process of eating that she barely noticed the conversation had shifted to include her.

"The hell are you waiting for?" she muffled at her brother, mouth full of food and most of her weight comfortably propped by Amanda. "Go." She even nodded toward the door.

Olly leaned down for that kiss, one arm going around his wife's waist. He could feel the tension slowly draining out of his shoulders. He was so relieved that huge ax had been removed from above them.

He looked back Shiva when Amanda made the offer, then at his twin. Jack was still pretty exhausted, but at least she was stuffing her face. Olly laughed at sister's words. "Yeah, I think they're in good hands," he told Shiva with a sidelong smirk. Both their pups and his sister.

Taking Kiera from his wife after she had a chance to kiss her good-bye, he pressed a kiss to the top of her blond hair. "Be good for Aunt Mandy, little paws," he said as he settled the toddler in Amanda's lap. Not that she wouldn't be. Of their three kids, the baby was the least trouble. She needed to be a little older before she could reach the destructive potential of her siblings.

Flashing a grin over his shoulder at Jack and Mandy, he caught Shiva around the waist and tugged her out the door, leading her away with kisses. Once they were outside, he picked her up and carried her off into the woods for some much needed alone time.
