All along it was a fever
Who: April and Elias
What: Post trauma
When: Saturday, March 14th, Late
Where: Their apartment
Warnings: TBD
Elias knew that despite the anticlimactic end to the night, it could have been much worse. On top of those thoughts, he realized that his past could come bubbling up to the surface at any time. April could be in the line of fire again. She would be in the line of fire simply because of how close to his heart she was. He loved her. More deeply than he was even willing to admit most days. Admitting that closeness would put a target on her back that he wasn't sure he could live with. Even knowing that, though, he'd fallen more deeply in love with her each passing day. Now there was no turning back, but the danger only kept growing.
When the reached the door to their apartment, he unlocked it and pushed it open, letting her step through ahead of him, still clad in the remnants of her costume and Mikhail's shirt. He followed after her and closed the door, then reached out and tugged the shirt off of her body, tossing it aside as if it were some sort of serpent that meant to do her harm. Catching her hips in his grip, he shoved her back against the flat surface of the door and kissed her hard.
"I'm sorry," he breathed out against her mouth. "Shoulda never got close to you and now it's too late."
