Ryan took a deep breath as Allison walked by him and stepped into the trailer. It had to be done, that’s what he told himself. Better now than later, the longer he kept it from her the more angry she would be when she found out. All those things ran through his head at least three times each as he followed her inside.
He thought he was lucky to have gotten her in there, so he didn’t want to risk it by telling her to sit down. The steps leading inside irritated the bite on his leg, which he knew he needed to get cleaned up soon. He might go see if Vered had anything to help the healing process along a bit. But the top priority at the moment was trying to appease a very unhappy girl.
Ryan closed the door behind him, leaning against the small dinette table to take his weight off his leg. “Again… I’m sorry. Keep that in mind.” There was no way to explain what he needed to easily. He also couldn’t think of any less blatant way to say it either.
“When I told you we could go out on Friday night, I wasn’t really thinking. Because… Friday night was a full moon. And you’ve been here long enough to expect some weird things happening on the full moon. I forgot about that until Friday morning. So… I had to leave quick, and get as far away from the Carnival as I could before nightfall. Because I…” Ryan’s gaze fell to his shoes while the words repeated themselves in his head. “I’m a werewolf.” He took another deep breath, now that it had finally come out. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you when we met. But I didn’t want to freak you out. You were new… I knew it was a lot to handle on the first day.”
