Since their conversation on the journalling system, Allison had been totally curious about the Faerie girl that was a face painter. She’d walked past her a couple of times with the intention of talking to her, but then she couldn’t quite bring herself to. It sounded terrible, but she was trying to deal with the fact that the supernatural was real and had been around since the beginning of time. Brady had been great, talking to her and sometimes keeping her distracted when she was finding the whole supernatural situation mind-boggling. And the people she’d met so far were really nice. It was just… she kept walking past Cassidy’s tent too, slowing down and wanting to walk in, but whenever she got too close, she changed her mind and walked off again, or when she saw him, she’d speed away going back to her booth or getting some soda to take with her, or swinging in on Brady to bug him. Mostly, to be fair, she dropped in on Brady to bug him. He was her favourite distraction.
But today, she’d decided that she wasn’t going to be a coward anymore. Ellie was a faerie and she’d seemed nice enough on the board… so why shouldn’t she be nice in person? Besides, faeries weren’t scary as vampires or werewolves or whatever else might be lurking in the shadows of the carnival (she was sure she’d seen a bear and a fox the other day, at separate times). She headed to where she knew Ellie was, glad to find that the faerie didn’t have any customers with her at the moment.
After standing a little way away for a couple of minutes, Allison squared her shoulders and walked over, sitting down in front of Ellie. “Hi…” she started, wondering if she looked as nervous as she felt. “I’m Allison, we kinda talked the other day…” She wet her lower lip. It had taken her way too long to actually go over and speak to Ellie. She sort of felt bad. Ducking her head, she offered a sheepish smile, “Sorry it’s taken me so long to come find you…”
