Arkady had heard murmurs of a girl wandering around, a girl who didn't seem quite like a mark. "She smell like a fish," Toby had told him matter-of-factly when Arkady had asked if she'd gone by the animal tent. Interesting.
The ringmaster had done his act earlier and as such he was walking through the grounds, dressed in his vintage all-black tuxedo and his top hat. He was a fearsome creature in eyeliner and his fangs fully visible, talons filed to points and painted glossy black. It could've been theatrical makeup, but something in his dark eyes was so menacing it tended to make people look more than once.
"Excuse me, miss," he said, circling around the side of the brightly-haired girl. "Are you looking for someone?"
