WHO: Vered & Ophidia
WHAT: Ophidia has an accident with Ruby and needs some fixing
WHEN: Backdated three months
WHERE: Vered's medical trailer
RATING: Low
Unless he was called to an area, Vered spent most of his time in his trailer, adapted to be the medical center as well as living space for the faerie. It took a bit of modification, but the couches were comfortable enough for 'patients' and he had a set of cabinets for human medical supplies.
It worked for him. He'd grown used to it, made himself comfortable. Other than the modifications at the front, the rest was the same as a regular trailer. His guitar rested inside of his bedroom, out of the way so it couldn't be damaged.
He opened the door to his trailer, letting out one of the performers who had a huge gash on their leg that he mended, using touches of magic for that. "Just be careful. The magic takes a little time to work in entirety." He nodded to them, watching them walk off.
"Ow ow ow stupid snake..." Judas--in Ophidia's body--came to the healer's trailer with a cloth wrapped around his arm. Ruby had been hungrier than he'd anticipated, and when he'd been in the middle of his routine, arm down her mouth, she'd bitten down quite hard. Now, he could have just switched bodies, but just because the wounds didn't translate over didn't mean they weren't still there. The sad fact of the matter was as soon as he changed back into this skin again, they'd be there, good as new...
Best to get them taken care of now.
"Hello? I need some help..."
The faerie looked down from his place in the doorway, the scent of strange blood catching his nose immediately. He stepped back into the trailer and out of the doorway, gesturing for Ophidia to come inside.
"Then help you shall get. Come in." His voice was deep and soothing to most ears, but he always kept the volume pretty low. It was habit, and a habit he didn't choose to break.
"...Hi. Um. My snake bit me." Ophidia smiled hesitantly at the fae--this was the first time she'd had to come here--and held out her arm to him. "I coulda switched bodies, but it still would have been there when I turned back, so I figured I should get it taken care of now..."
Vered took Ophidia's arm very carefully, almost as if he was handling something as delicate as a soap bubble so he could examine the wound. "Large snake...that's a very unpleasant bite wound." He released the incubus's arm, leading her to sit on the couch. "It's a good thing you came. The wound needs cleaning."
"I'm sure it does. I didn't know she was so hungry...I fed her before the performance, but I guess I didn't do enough." The young woman's lips quirked up into a faint smile. "I'm Ophidia. In this skin, at least. Normally Judas."
"O-phi-di-a..." The name fell from his lips slowly, each syllable emphasized as he worked to remember the pretty woman's name. He pulled out some witch hazel and cotton pads, moving back to her side and kneeling. "And Judas...your blood has an...interesting smell..." Soaking the pad in the clear liquid, he gently wiped the wound clean, pale eyes focused. "Vered is my name."
"Of course it does, handsome. I'm an incubus." Ophidia's lips quirked up, amused, though she inhaled sharply as the healer wiped the wound clean. "You're not the first to tell me it smells interesting..."
Vered continued to wipe over each puncture in the skin, eyes flicking up to look at Ophidia's face. "I apologize for the pain. An incubus explains a lot, then. Your aura, however...seems a little dimmed. Why is that, I wonder?"
"...Eh?" Ophidia looked startled. "Dimmed? What's that mean?" It was distracting enough of a statement that she didn't even realize the pain, not really...
"Have you...how shall I put it...'fed', recently?" His lips curved into a slight smile as he discarded the cotton pad in place of a new one, just to make sure everything was clean. "I have come across incubi before...not many, but I have. The projection of sexual aura is usually a lot stronger. Or perhaps it's because of your injury."
"...Ah. No, I mean...it's been...about three days." Ophidia blushed, quite prettily...and ducked her head a little, embarrassed. "I'm a bit more picky than most."
"Must be your injury...you're distracted." Pulling the cotton pad away, he looked over the bites, clicking his tongue. "Tsk tsk tsk...your snake was not very happy this evening..."
"Yeah..." Ophidia rubbed the back of her head, self-consciously. "I kinda...I guess I misjudged. Normally she never bites me, you know? But I guess I just didn't feed her enough."
"What exactly were you doing that prompted her to bite?" The faerie stood up, grabbing some hand sanitizer for himself and a wrap for the wound. "It looks like you had your arm in her mouth judging by the way the punctures are."
"...Well. Um. I did." The incubus laughed. "That's part of the show. She pretends to eat a part of me, the audience freaks out, I do my contortionist routine with her attached to my arm and wound around my body, etc, etc..."
Vered looked over at the incubus, raising a thin brow. "Ah, well...animals are extremely unpredictable. One moment they comply and the next...well...the next is very obvious to you now." Kneeling back down, he started to wrap the bandage around her arm, tilting his head to make sure he covered the broken skin. "Not finished yet..."
"I've been with Ruby for quite some time, now. She doesn't ever do anything like this...she's a good snake." Ophidia's voice was a little defensive; she couldn't help it! The man was bad-mouthing what was practically her best friend...
"Ah, I didn't...mean to offend." Vered's voice softened, his eyes shifting to look up at Ophidia. "I apologize if I did. She must be well behaved for the most part if this is your first injury."
"She is, generally. It's not her fault she got hungry." Ophidia's brow was creased, a little. "I should have been paying more attention."
"Accidents happen. I do apologize sincerely for the offense. Please hold still for just one moment. To make it heal faster I'm just going to use a little power." He hated calling it 'magic'. It sounded so Disney. Wrapping both of his large hands around the covered wound gently, he closed his eyes and muttered something under his breath, a soft little glow under his hands. When he was finished seconds later, he pulled his hands away, looking up at Ophidia. "You'll still need to be very careful with it for the next twelve or so hours. The longer the better. It's not fast acting magic. Twenty-four hours would be best."
"Hm. So if I'm in my other body will it keep healing itself?" The incubus cocked her head. "Because that would be incredibly convenient. I could just switch back to normal for a day."
"It should, but to be honest, I wouldn't risk it. At least not for a few hours. What is happening is I've increased the healing rate of your skin so there is no scarring as well." Vered nodded. "If you switch...skins...it might take a little longer."
"Ah...all right then. Unfortunate. I generally don't stay in this form unless I absolutely have to." The incubus sighed, a little, then smiled up at Vered. "Well, thank you..."
Vered looked at Ophidia for a moment, trying to determine if that word of thanks was actually genuine. He hated false gratitude. True, it was his job to mend wounds, but honest gratitude didn't come by that often. "It is...unfortunate." He spoke slowly, moving to put his supplies away. "Tomorrow...return tomorrow and let me know if you switched skins."
Ophidia's eyes narrowed a little, at the look the fae had given her. She didn't like it. She felt like...like he was judging her, or putting her on the spot.
"...I won't." The incubus stood. "Change skins, I mean. You said not to."
"Then that is good...." Vered could see the way Ophidia's eyes narrowed, but his face remained neutral for the moment. He dug through his cabinets and pulled out a couple capsules filled with crushed herbs, holding them out to the incubus. "If it hurts at all, swallow one of these. It'll help take it away for a while."
"...Thank you, again." Ophidia took the pills and curled her fingers around them; the thanks was sincere enough, even if she was still a little...off-put by the look he'd given her before.
He could hear it in her tone that time, which made him smile softly. It was the sigh before that made him question, but it didn't matter now. "They shouldn't upset your stomach. And I do hope your...Ruby, was it?...Ruby is just fine. They say incubus blood has effects. But if it effects snakes or other animals..."
"It won't bother her. She's scraped me on accident before. And I wasn't worried about it upsetting my stomach, but thank you for the reassurance."
"You are welcome. I also hope you're able to, ah, feed soon." Vered chuckled, the first time he made such a sound in the incubus's presence. "Just as long as they don't grab your arm."
The young woman arched an eyebrow at the comment as well as the chuckle. She hadn't been expecting either...
"Mm, well it's unlikely with this wound. Maybe tomorrow. I mean, unless you're offering."
"Not in that body, Miss Ophidia." The faerie pushed some of his silver blonde hair out of his eyes, his lips still curved in a slightly amused grin. "I've had many lovers in my life. While I've laid with women and have...enjoyed it for the sake of need, I prefer laying with men."
"Ahh. Come see me when I'm myself then, sometime." A slow smile curved the incubus's lips, and she pressed a kiss to the fae's cheek. "Thanks for the help, handsome."
Sashaying out of the trailer, her eyes were amused; he'd come, she was almost sure of it.
