WHO: Melodia Wasser & OPEN!
WHEN: After-hours at the Freakshow Tent.
WHERE: The Freakshow Tent.
WHAT: Melodia experiences The Little Mermaid.
RATING: TBD. Should be relatively low.

"Watch and you'll see, some day I'll be part of your world...."

A television was placed in front of the fish tank in the Freakshow tent as a red headed mermaid was submerged under the water, watching through the glass at the screen. The Little Mermaid flashed across the screen as Melodia was introduced to the Disney film that everyone seemed to reference when visiting the mermaid tank. After curiosity finally piqued, Melodia knew she wouldn't be happy until she found out what all the fuss was about this "Ariel" that everyone seemed to mistaken her for until one of the barkers corrected the audience and said her name is Melodia - not to be mistaken with the fairy tale mermaid. Currently, the only thing that Melodia found she had in common with the cartoon girl was the red hair.

Despite being under water, Melodia Wasser heard the movie perfectly fine, even a few fish watched as the mermaid attempted to understand what all the fuss was about this movie and the real mermaid in the tank. However, all that Melodia felt was more confused. Was this how humans perceived mermaids like her? A perpetual look of disgust, occasionally washed over with confusion played across her face as she watched the movie unfold.

Why would a mermaid... who? What? None of this movie made sense and it just made her feel sick that humans were actually comparing her to this red-headed young human-like girl. She didn't even possess any mermaid-like traits, and the castle made of coral? What the hell was she watching? Frowning, the only saving grace in this film was Ursula, while horribly stereotyped, her malevolence made Melodia smirk. Not to mention, she was reminded greatly of her mother as she watched the "Sea-witch" plot to take back her rightful place in society.

Floating closer to the glass, Melodia placed her hand on the glass, feeling the music shake the glass subtly as the notes drifted through the water like a dream. Dark green eyes narrowed slightly as the movie played on. Her facial expressions were really the only amusing thing going on during this movie as the real mermaid watched the fictional mermaid on screen.

Poda had heard there was a new installment in the freak show tent. She had never really thought much of a freak tent, certainly it was a way to make a living but she never really like the idea of doing it herself. She didn't fault others, however. It didn't mean she expected much from the exhibits, especially not now that everything was closed up. She figured she may run into an empty fish tank at this point. After all, what a carnival called a mermaid was usually nothing more then a human. However, this carnival was very special so she could hope for a bit more, perhaps a water nymph or a Selkie.

What she got, however, was dead on. Except, of course, for the television blaring the horrendous movie. The dark figure of the Harpy would wait in front of the tank, sharp eyes taking in all the details of the intricate tank.

"Sorry for interrupting..." She made herself known so as not to spook the girl in the tank. The girl in the tank seemed familiar, but she couldn't be quite sure.

Melodia looked up when the voice made her presence known, the fish went scattering searching for places to hide in the coral. Green eyes flickered slightly, as Melodia swam about the tank for a moment, attempting to decide if she wanted to keep her attention on the film, or on the woman standing in front of the tank. Eventually, the mysterious woman at the tank won.

Surfacing, the gills around Melodia's neck vanished as she inhaled the fresh air. It was tart without the humans there, bringing in the scents from the carnival with them. It wasn't laced with cotton candy, candy apples and sawdust, it was just highly polluted tart air. Blinking water from her eyes, her red hair laid plastered against her cheeks as she moved to the edge of the tank and propped her elbows on the edge.

"Hello," Her voice was like honey, sweet and melodious - much like her namesake. It was the lure and hook to snag wary fisherman out on the water. It was what made those weak of heart tempted to stare into the depth of the ocean, feel entranced by their songs and eventually plunge to their death. It's what else drew patrons of the Freakshow precariously close to her tank, until a barker urged them further away - whether that was for show, or Melodia was actually trying to lure them into her tank was hard to determine.

The Harpy gave a glance to the television and raised an eyebrow, she wasn't sure if the mermaid was enjoying it or not, but since she seemed not to mind that she was interrupted she figured it was all right.

"I had heard there was a mermaid added to our ranks. I just wasn't sure I believed it. I suppose even an immortal life has to have it's surprises." She gave a slight noise of amusement. "You certainly sound like one." The voice was what made her believe. Only two things that she knew of had voices like that. Sirens and mermaids. And since Sirens (at least her version of them) didn't much like leaving their island home or living in water, Poda came to the natural conclusion that the mermaid was what she was billed as.

"I'm Celaeno Podarge, Poda, since Celaeno can be a mouthful." Her hands were in the pockets of her trench coat, she was exactly bundled up against the cold. Combat boots and thin band tee under her black trench coat.

A broad smirk curled on her lips as she tilted her head to the side, "Celaeno Podarge, do you prefer Poda?" Melodia had to admit, Celaeno was a beautiful name, and this woman was equally beautiful. It made the mermaid bristle a little, especially since the feeling that Melodia got from her seemed to familiar. The sharp look in her gaze, the cool exterior. If Melodia didn't know any better, Poda would almost seem like a --- No. But that was silly. Since when do Harpies take on full human-form?

Melodia leaned over the edge of the tank a little more to peer down at Poda's feet, but only saw dark boots.

No talons. Melodia exhaled loudly and glanced back up Poda.

"I'm Melodia," Extending a hand from over the tank, Melodia kicked with her tail, to push herself out of the water a little more, her scales along her waist slowly disappearing as they felt the air and dried. "I think Celaeno is a beautiful name and that you shouldn't shorten it to accommodate anyone. It's the name you have a been given," A finely sculpted brow arched, as a smile spread across her lips. That smile was hard to read, it seemed predatory, and genuine at the same time. It also held a sense of allure and mystery about it, like she knew something but wasn't about to share her secret.

Melodia's true secret, the one that all the employees at the carnival seemed to be after might have been a little more obvious to a trained eye like Poda. The gift that Melodia's mother gave her - the one secret she was to protect with her life - was never far from her. In fact, if Poda knew where to look, or if she knew how to look, there was a constant faint glow on Melodia's chest, right where her heart would be. The siren's tear was always there with Melodia, safe within her and a dead give away to her royal lineage -- if people actually believed in mermaid monarchy.

"It works." Mostly because most people could pronounce Celaeno and no one called her Cela but her sisters. She shrugged a bit, moving closer to the mermaid's tank, now that she knew she wasn't bothering the girl.

The Harpy gave another slight smirk and 'hmmphed' a bit. Yes, she certainly did prefer her full name, but living among humans so long meant that she was used to accommodating them.

"Melodia...It suits you." She reached a hand out to the mermaid, the fingernails more like talons then any normal human would be capable of, the skin as well as more rigid and rough, but one could simply assume she was a hard worker.

Poda was not used to being surprised, however, when her eyes slid to the Siren's tear faintly glowing in the girl's chest her eyes widened.

"...you...are very far from home."
