It had been a magnificent display and, in Avery's opinion, a great introduction to the magic and mystery that the carnival had to offer. Watching the show had brought about a rush of excitement that she almost couldn't contain.
She remained in her seat as the crowd began to disappear through the exits. After a few moments she stood and pulled her coat back on. It had become uncomfortably warm with the crowd and she had shrugged it off sometime during the animal show. Taking a deep breath, she made her way to the exterior of the tent in search of Arkady.
Her eyes scanned the crowd outside and fell upon a group of costumed performers surrounded by patrons and their children excitedly requesting photos. Craning her neck slightly to see a bit better, she caught a glimpse of what she hoped to be dreadlocks, and made her way to get into the makeshift queue.
Avery came up behind a couple of younger boys who were talking excitedly about the poi act. She hadn't seen more than she sides of their faces as they talked to each other, but could tell there was a gleam in their eyes, and huge grins on their faces. As they rushed up for pictures, Avery turned her attention to her gracious host with a sizable grin of her own.
"So, ringmaster, if someone wanted to work for the carnival, would they need to submit a résumé, or is there an application process? Or how does that work?" Her smile radiated in her voice, and she only hoped they had some sort of opening somewhere. Sure, she didn't have a fancy piece of paper formalizing her studies or anything, but she'd settle for working clean up if nothing else. She was hooked, and it felt good. "That show was absolutely amazing, and I want in."
