WHO: Avery and Arkady. WHAT: Avery found the carnival at it's stop in Boston. WHERE: Wandering aimlessly. WHEN: Sunset. RATING: G . STATUS: Complete.
It had been years since Avery had been to a carnival of any kind. It was the sort of thing she'd attend with her father when he was home between deployments when she was younger. As she got older, carnivals, zoos, and fairs became too "juvenile" for her tastes, so she never paid much mind to attending one.
She wasn't sure quite why she was at this particular one now. She'd taken a bus from Fort Meade, where her mother had taken up permanent residence, to Boston. She'd never had a whim until now to go anywhere really, especially Massachusetts, but there was something that told her that this was where she needed to be (and had decided to pester her in the form of overwhelming anxiety as time progressed.)
She'd shacked up in a nearby hotel for the night and had asked the front desk clerk if there was anything entertaining to check out. She'd rather not spend time in a hotel room, not like she'd be able to sleep from the anxious feeling that had decided to settle in her stomach. She needed to be outside among people, sitting alone to think about absolutely nothing wasn't going to work.
The clerk had mentioned the Carnival had just rolled in, and that it wasn't going to be there long, the rest of the normal tourist stops would still be there when it left. He'd motioned to the nearly overstuffed rack of brochures and flyers that came standard in hotels worldwide. Avery had politely shook her head and made her way out.
After wandering aimlessly for a bit upon arrival, she'd grabbed herself a pretzel from one of the food vendors, and had found herself a bench to sit on as she munched on it. She wasn't really hungry but it'd given her a reason to look like she was doing something other than looking as awkward as she felt. She wished for a moment that her father was there, he'd find them something fun to do. He'd make the apprehensive, gnawing, anxious feeling in her stomach go away. Somehow, she figured, he'd know what had brought her here, and why.
[ooc note:I know I was aiming to have Arkady pick up her ring at a pawn shop, but as I've finally given her a place of origin, it only makes sense to me that her mother pawned it near Fort Meade, and it's been pawned again and ended up with Arkady? That's what I'm thinking at least. If it doesn't work, it can be reworked. Also if I need to change the time or whatever so it doesn't clash with Illa's thread (which popped up as I was writing this) I can?]
