"Oh..." Pandora's face, which had lit up at Riley saying he was going to take her to the toy store, now fell again; she lowered her head, drawing her knees up close to her chest. Childlike gestures, for a most un-childlike creature...but being around Riley always softened her. She really, truly did like the puck, liked the way he treated her, liked that he was so gentle with her...it made her feel...real. Like she really was this little girl, and not...what she really was.
Sometimes...sometimes it was nice to feel that way.
"...I...don't know." Her voice was quiet, and her eyes flickered. "Since...since Ana and Delilah...went away, I've just been...by myself. No one really wants to...to have me. So...so I don't know what I'd do. It's okay to be by myself here because everyone knows I'm not really a child, or at least everyone that matters, but there it would matter. And New York is so...loud. And so full of..."
She paused, and seemed to struggle with herself; then she shook her head, a little.
"Maybe I shouldn't go. Maybe I should just stay here. If I'm...alone in the city, there will be...so many...temptations. It could be...dangerous."
