Angel by my side
WHO: Gar and Izabela
WHERE: The Midway, then the Lot
WHEN: Last night
WHAT: Gar again rescues one of Arkady's Ladies.
STATUS: Closed and complete.
It was nearing the end of the night in the sideshow tent, thank goodness. Izabela enjoyed what she did, that was certain. She just didn't enjoy the cooler temperatures later at night. So the sooner she could get back to her trailer and change into something more comfortable and just settle in, the better. As the last of the crowds went through her room in the tent, she got herself down from the stage in a flurry of sparkles from her costume. She'd been running late and hadn't brought along her change of clothes, which meant a little walk down the midway. But that was alright. It was like free advertisement. Iza left the tent, running a hand through her hair as she went. Her tongue flicked out to taste and take in the concentration of different scents. And perhaps she was unconsciously trying to locate one in particular. But she could focus enough to do that because she felt a hand tap her on the shoulder. Turning to look, she saw a guy standing there. Probably mid-twenties. You're the Serpentina girl, right? As if it wasn't obvious. "Yes, yes I am. And who might you be?" Her hands settled at her hips. Just a fan who wanted a closer look. To see if your act was real or not... He gave her a once-over, and she saw the familiar spark of interest in his eyes. "It's more real than you might think," she said, tongue flicking out to accent. I can see that. It's also really beautiful, you know. Exotic in a way. Oh boy...Iza wasn't really sure what to do. She'd been able to deal with the teenage boys with the same ideas toward her. They were fun to tease. But men? A bit more difficult...
It had become a regular thing for Gar now. He would take his final break of the evening to coincide with Iza getting off of work so he could escort her himself back to the safety of her trailer. It was a short, but nice encounter that he had come to look forward to on the nights she worked, which happened to coincide with his. He strode quickly and easily across the grounds using the narrow pathways behind the tents and booth that were the highways used by the Carnie folk to allow for quick and mostly unseen travel from one of the show to the other. He made good time, and arrived at the Freak tent just in time to have missed her leaving apparently, her stage and dressing room were empty. Gar growled to himself and set off on the route they normally took during their walks from Freak Tent to Living Lot. He moved quicker now and as he turned a corner and nearly stepped in on top of her stopped, and chatting with a stranger. He stopped where he was, his eyes on the stranger talking to Iza and his eyes roamed over her back and beaded covered body while he waited to see just what has transpiring.
She'd been meaning to wait for Gar, she really had. But she was kind of chilly, so that had spurred her to try and get going for the sake of getting comfortable. As it was, the 'interested fan' had thrown a bit of a wrench into that plan. She was trying to be civil in hopes of getting him to go and let her be on her way. "Exotic. Not the first time I've heard that." I bet it isn't. You're definitely exotic, though. Gorgeous, but in a different sort of way. That look of interest made it very clear what sort of interest he was taken. And it was most certainly not just intrigue about whether or not her act was real. "Well, I appreciate the compliment. Anyway...I sort of have to get going..." Hopefully that would work. It normally did, right? When in doubt, say you had to go somewhere. And she really did need to leave. Please don't go. I mean...well, yeah, I'm sorry for being so out of the blue. But I really just needed to tell you that. He rubbed at the back of his head in a nervous (or fakely nervous) way. Kind of couldn't take my eyes off you in there. Iza was very much tempted to roll her eyes, but she tried to be nice anyway. "Well, if you're around, you're free to come and see me tomorrow. Figure out for yourself if my exotic uniqueness is real or not."
Gar's eyes narrowed in the shadows where he stood, and for an unknown reason, he continued to remain hidden from sight so he could continue watching the interaction between Iza and her apparently smitten fan. He really didn't have the time for such a delay if he was going to get back to the tent on time, but he wasn't concerned with that, right then. Iza was very dear to him, and he never felt like she fully knew just how much he cared for her. Perhaps, maybe if this mark got out of line, he could swoop in, save her and the day, and impress upon her just how valuable, and helpful he was to have as something more than just a friend and a lover. He waited, but was ready to spring into action at the beat of a heart.
Dropping hints seemed like a waste with this guy. He was nothing if not persistent. "Look...you seem nice and all and I really do appreciate the compliments, but I have someplace to be. Sorry." There. Plainly stated. Surely that would make him understand. He'd paused for a moment, almost like he didn't know what to do, so she took that as an opportunity to leave. Turning away from him, her hands dropped from her hips as she started to walk away. But she only got a handful of steps before she felt a hand taking her by the wrist. Please...just...don't go. I don't even know your name. His grip on her wrist wasn't rough, per se, but you could definitely tell that he didn't want her to go. "Somehow I don't think giving you my name is going to make you any more inclined to leave me alone. Just...why don't you go and find some pretty girl walking around here?" You're different than they are. So different. And I...I can't even put it into the right words. God, why did this have to happen to her tonight? She tried to think of some way to get him to leave or to get away that didn't involve petrifying him and leaving him there. But her thought process was interrupted when the hand at her wrist let go and his fingers ran up her arm, following the path of her scales. She shrugged him off. "Don't touch me. Seriously...you don't need a girl like me. So, just go." But he was reaching out for her again. It was like he didn't understand English!
Gar watched, but only for so long, and when he saw the attempt of Iza to leave, and then the trespassing grip of the mark on her wrist, it was on. His vision clouded, the fire rose in his belly and a bellowed snarl tore from his lips as he shot out of the darkness of the shadows and came up behind Iza and glared down at the man holding onto her wrist. His hands went to Iza's hips, and rested there in a heavy, but strong and reassuring way, letting her know he was there and he was there to protect. His holding onto her had two purposes. One to make her feel secure, and two, to keep him from instantly ripping this guys arm out of it's socket and beating him to death with it. "DON'T..... TOUCH....!" he roared at the young man, and glared into the eyes of the human in his sights. No one touched any of the Carnie family that didn't want to be touched when Gar was around, and especially they didn't manhandle the women he was specifically involved with.
She heard the snarl first before her senses tuned into that particular scent. It was Gar. She didn't even have the chance to turn around and face him. It was more than simple to feel his presence as he came up behind her. And judging from the shocked and scared expression on the mark's face, he meant business. Gar's hands were at her hips, holding onto her in a way that definitely made her feel safe. But she imagined that having something to occupy his hands with kept him from reacting more violently to the situation. As it was, the two words coming from his mouth were more than violent enough in the way they sounded. It was almost like a roar, and she couldn't help the involuntary shiver that ran down her spine as she heard it. She kept her eyes forward, and the mark looked genuinely terrified. Stricken speechless and motionless in one fell swoop. "...seriously, just go. Unless you want him to kill you." He almost didn't seem to hear her. "Just go!" she said louder, and that seemed to snap him out of it. At least, long enough for him to stumble a few steps backward before getting the hell out of there. Once he was out of sight, she turned around in Gar's grip, looking up at him. "Thanks...I'm not used to being the damsel in distress, so to speak." She reached up with one hand, caressing the side of his face softly to try and calm him.
Gar's breathing was fast, rushing in and out of his flaring nostrils as he continued to stand, tensed, watching the quickly departing form of the mark. Face had been committed to memory and if he ever saw him anywhere near the Hootchie Tent or Iza's stage again, it wouldn't go so nicely. His entire nearly seven foot frame was as tensed a spring steel and it took a moment of Iza's warmth and soft touch on his face to finally allow him to snap out of his predator mode and back to a much calmer, and more affable state of mind. He blinked, and then looked down at the slim and beautiful woman who was now pressed front to front with him, and smiling up into his face. "Are you OK?" He asked her because first and foremost that was the most important thing for him to know right then.
He'd felt so tense against her, as if prepared to stalk after the mark once he'd gone. His breathing was rushed. All in all, he wasn't calm. She didn't think that the guy would have been stupid enough to stay there. Not when faced with someone as fearsome as Gar. But there wasn't any need for that predatorily stance with her. She just sought to calm him down. And after a few moments, she saw that shift in him. He seemed more relaxed, thankfully. His question was entirely expected, and she tried to reassure him with her smile and her touch. "I'm fine. Promise." The grip on her wrist hadn't been rough. Just a little tight. Nothing that had hurt her. "I shouldn't have left before you got to the tent. Moron wouldn't have even considered coming near me with you there."
Gar shot a glance over the top of Iza's head to make sure the offender was truly gone, and once that had been confirmed, he looked down at her, kissed the top of her head, and then pulled her closer yet into a tight hug. "You shouldn't be walking back home alone. You shouldn't be walking home alone dressed in your stage clothes either." he said and scolded her softly. "Bring a robe, or cover up in sweats like Sioux does." he said and there was no anger in his voice towards her, just worry and concern. "You girls, gonna make me old before my time." he said a beat later in the way of a joke, then gave a chuckle and at last smiled down at her. "You ready to get on home so I can tuck you in and get back to work before Arkady kicks my ass for being gone to long from the tent?" he asked her and gave her another hug. He loved the feeling of her warm skin against his. His mind was already wandering to less than pure thoughts and desires.
The kiss to the top of her head was sweet, and she didn't protest as he pulled her tighter to him in a hug. As for the scolding...well, she imagined she deserved it for being careless. He didn't sound at all angry with her and it was more than clear that he was concerned and just had her best interest in mind. "I know, and I'm sorry. Normally I change and then go home, but I was running late, so I forgot my change of clothes for the end of the night. It won't happen again." It really wouldn't. Normally she wasn't so careless. Far from it, really. The joke made her chuckle some, and that smile still hadn't left her lips as he hugged her again. "Yes, I'm ready to go home. Don't want to keep you from work too long and have you get in trouble just because of me." While he was still close enough, she couldn't help but pull back enough to steal a kiss. "...and that was a little reward from the damsel in distress."
Gar closed his eyes and gave a deep rumbling sort of purr in his throat as he accepted the kiss. He then put his hand behind her head and pulled her in tight for a much longer and deeper kiss before he released his hold on her, and took one of here tiny hands in his and started to walk her toward her trailer. "You are of course forgiven. I can never stay mad at you beautiful creatures. Women have always been, and will always be my weakness, downfall and I am sure my ultimate ruin." he said with a good hearted laughs as they walked along side by side. "I could come by and sleep over if you want some company and someone to hog the covers of your bed..." he said and then shot a sly glance over at her and grinned.
Not just one kiss, it seemed. Not that she minded that at all. She gladly kissed him back as he pulled her in closer for a longer and deeper kiss. Iza was smiling like sunshine as he pulled back, not protesting when he took her hand in his. It was almost funny that her hand was so small in comparison to his. But somehow it felt like it fit in his grasp. "I guess if you're going to have an ultimate ruin, it might as well be a beautiful woman. Or...beautiful women, I guess. Depends." She tried to keep up with his longer strides as they walked. At his offer to sleep over, she chuckled a little bit. "Hm, so I guess my choices would be to spend the night alone with nobody to hold me or to have a strong, sexy angel in my bed to keep me warm." She actually pretended to ponder the options before finally coming to a conclusion. "I'd say the second option sounds better. Even if you do hog the covers. That can be forgiven."
Gar snorted and rolled his eyes. "I get that same complaint from every person I share a bed with." he sighed and gave her hand a squeeze, but not too hard. As they walked along, he noticed Iza was having to practically jog to keep up with him, so he slow his pace a bit. He wasn't dragging her to be tossed off of the lot after all. Mentally he was aware of the time passing since he had left the tent. He knew he had a good excuse, escorting Iza to her trailer, but still. He would have to keep his mind on just dropping her off, and not dropping her drawers and his pants. "I'll come back after I get off shift. I'll even do you the favor of taking a shower first." he smirked.
"Well it's okay. I can always get more blankets." Which was true. With winter coming eventually, she'd have to get more blankets to keep the temperature right where she liked it. The squeeze to her hand had not gone unnoticed, and she smiled a bit at that. And when he slowed down a little bit? Even better. It would have been easier to keep up had she not still been wearing the heels that went with her costume. But unfortunately, she was. But with the adjustment it was fine. "That sounds good. I'll just be hanging around, probably thinking about how much more eventful things will be once you get back."
Gar turned to look at her directly now and gave a wicked grin. "Oh... So I am a sure thing now? I just can't imagine how you might have gotten the idea that I am so... easy... and.... predictable when it comes to acts of vile fornication." he said and had the ability to look completely shocked and dismayed at her comment. It was pretty comical to see. He blinked his eyes at her and continued the shocked look as they neared her trailer.
The look of shock that came over his features was really rather funny. She couldn't help but laugh, even as he kept on with it. "Hey now...did I specify how things would be more eventful when you came back? No, no I did not. It could mean mindbending sex that leaves my mind reeling or it could mean just sitting around and talking or something." Technically she hadn't specified! "That being said...does that mean that you wouldn't want to commit those acts of fornication with me? Because if that's the case, you can just say so. I'll try not to cry over the rejection."
Gar snorted and let go of her hand just long enough to give her a slap on the ass, and then laugh as he captured her hand in his again, and then placed a kiss on her cheek. "Nasty girl. Don't ever change." he smiled at her. As he looked at her, the kidding mood fell away, and he realized that he really did like her, and especially how well they got along, even out of bed. They just clicked, and it wasn't a struggle to get along and just be around each other. It was very nice indeed.
When he let her hand go, she was a little confused. But that was all cleared up when he slapped her on the ass before taking her hand again. Iza found it a little hard not to laugh, even as he kissed her on the cheek. "You say nasty, I say appreciator of mindbending sex. Regardless though, I don't plan on changing anytime soon." She looked up at him, smiling still. And she could have sworn that there was a certain softness to the way Gar was looking at her. Whatever it was, it was nice. Spending time with him was always great, whether that entailed more physical things or just being around each other. "You shouldn't change either. I rather like you just how you are."
Gar smiled at her compliment, and decided to remain serious and not joke around the serious moment they were sharing. "I haven't been able to change who I am much since I came into being my own master and thinking for myself. I suppose I am who I am, just the way he made me, and always knew I would be." he pondered, then after a beat, shook his head and realized it was now getting a bit too serious. "But anyway. I shall try to remain as I am, just for you." he said then winked at her as they arrived at the steps of her trailer.
Just the way he made him...there really was only one option for who 'he' was. A very obvious option. She didn't say anything in reaction for that because really, what else was there to be said. But she did smile as he winked at her. "And I'll try to not ever change, just for you." They'd gotten to her trailer by then, and she knew that he needed to get back to work. She didn't want to keep him from that, but she also didn't want him to go. Turning back to him, Iza leaned up to give him another kiss, purposely pressing her body to his. After a long moment, she pulled back with a smile. "I'll be here when you're finished."
Gar looked down at Iza as she pulled back from kissing him, and he lifted up his hand and ran the pad of his thumb across her lower lip slowly. "I'll return as soon as I can. You can count on it." he said in a deep, quiet voice then leaned in to kiss her gently on the forehead as he gave her hand a squeeze. "I'll hurry back to you. Promise." he smiled, then bumped his forehead against hers playfully, and then turned and wandered back into the darkness, toward the Hootchie Tent.
