Manipulating the shadows had gotten a little easier. The sun was setting, so with it went the light that created most of the darkest deepest shadows she could work with. Night was when it was the easiest, but the shadows were harder to form into smaller tendrils and objects. She sat cross legged on the grass outside of the carnival and closed her eyes, focusing on the tree and the shadow that stretched beneath it. Suddenly, the shadows started twisting and changing, rising up from the ground like grasping fingers.
She opened her eyes, smirking as she watched the shadows twirl in the air before dissipating like smoke. Leigh had been careful, making sure that none of the fair goers would catch her out here, and she didn't have to be at the haunted house for a little bit yet. Waving her fingers in the air, she called up a smaller shadow, forming it into a bird before she sent it off into the air and it puffed away like so much fog.
Looking up as she heard someone approaching, she shielded her eyes with her hand and she gave a half-wave. She still hadn't met many of the carnival workers, nor did she quite believe some of the things she had heard about fantastic creatures.
But then, if she existed, what else did?
