"Well what if I get the permission of the girls, then?" Judas barely suppressed a wince, at the mention of his last...interaction...with Jiayi. She was a feisty one, that shifter, and he liked her immensely, even if she often acted as though he were something foul on the bottom of her foot.
"Ruby knows better than to eat the cat-girls anyways. They smell different than the normal-like animals. Plus even in kitten form I think Jingfei's too big to be tasty. C'mon, Sis..."
He touched her arm, lightly, looked up into her face. "If I can tell them you say it's okay, then that Jiayi will be more likely to agree. You know I don't wanna cause anyone any trouble, but Ruby really is getting big for the trailer and I want her to be able to stretch out a bit..."
Not wheedling, or whining, just...a faint lilt. He owed the Carnivale everything, including--probably--his life. Big G was finding it damnably hard to find him, when he was changing places every week. So he didn't want to step on any toes, especially not the ones of those who had been here for forever; he was low man on the totem pole, new man around, and though he thought Adair was fond enough of him he still tread lightly around her when it was actually important.
"Just say the word and I'll go find them, I swear, and I won't release Ruby until both girls have given their permission..."
