The most frustrating part was that Aiden did have the potential to be a leader, he just didn't want to see it. Where Volk was timid, he saw Aiden as confident. When they were together, he'd always let Aiden call the shots, and he knew that was part of the problem for Aiden but he couldn't understand why.
"Holding me back from what?" he was genuinely confused. What great ambition did Aiden think Volk had? All he wanted was a pack to run with, a forest to hunt in, and a lover to curl up with afterwards. Was that really so much to ask?
