Hestia sat on her sofa, leaning over the coffee table and going over some plans. There were menu ideas of scraps of papers, themes, possible locations of premises. It was all a bunch of ideas yet. She still had to see about funding, and that meant a trip to Gringotts, but she hadn't quite gotten around to it yet. Somehow, with everything else going on, she wasn't in the biggest hurry. There was still Severus to consider, and a school, to which she'd made a commitment.
Still, it was nice to go over it, especially when Severus was spending copious hours in his room, working on his potions. She liked to make plans and imagine the day when she could actually start making them happen.
Scratching out a soup idea she decided she didn't like, Hestia looked up when she heard a rapping on a window. She frowned when she saw not an owl, but a large black raven. Well, that wasn't something you saw every day. Hestia got up from her seat and went to the window, pulling it open. The raven eyed her with large, beady eyes, and Hestia frowned at it before reaching out to unhook the letters attached to its legs.
Quick as a flash, the bird jumped, landing on her arm and pecking at her hand while its talons scratched at her arm. Hestia gave a scream, and tugged her arm back, trying to get free.
"Severus!" She tugged her arm again, and the bird fluttered free, hopping back to the window. It gave a loud caw before flying off, the notes fluttering to the floor. Hestia gasped in pain, covering her bleeding arm in her hand. "What the bloody hell was that?"
