Re: Saturday: 1:30
Tony allowed his gaze to drop back to his hands as he reached the chorus, relieved that he was familiar enough with the song that he could keep his emotions at bay. “Oh, Sonny, don't go away, I am here all alone, and your daddy's a sailor who never comes home. And the nights get so long, and the silence goes on, and I'm feeling so tired; I'm not all that strong.” He felt bad for leaving his mother to come to Dalton, he truly did, but the opportunity was one that he really couldn’t have turned down. It was all the more reason for him to want to succeed at this audition, though; to prove to himself that he’d made the right choice.
“Well, it's a hundred miles to town,” he continued, looking up and then out towards the (mostly empty) auditorium, “Sonny's never been there - and he goes to the highway, and stands there, and stares. And the mail comes at four, and the mailman is old, ah, but he still dreams his dreams full of silver and gold.” A faint smile curled his lips as he sang, and Tony returned his attention to the council and captain of the Warblers. “Oh, Sonny's dreams can't be real, they're just stories he's read, they're just stars in his eyes, they're just dreams in his head.” His eyes slipped closed as he continued, his voice raising just a smidge, “And he's hungry inside for the wide world outside, and I know I can't hold him, though I've tried and I've tried and I’ve tried. Oh, Sonny don't go away, I am here all alone, and your daddy's a sailor who never comes home. And the nights get so long, and the silence goes on, and I'm feeling so tired, I'm not all that strong.” Finally, the blond opened his eyes as he stopped strumming in favor of lifting his hand to grip onto the mic standing before him as he finished the song a cappella.

Biting his lip once he’d finished, Tony ducked his head slightly before looking out towards the Warblers, uncertain of what would come next. He knew there was supposed to be a question and answer sort of thing, and he had to admit that he was more nervous for that than he was for any other part of the audition process.
