In which Addison and Archie celebrate Father's Day Who: Addison and Archie What: An unexpected Father's Day gift Where: Archie's apartment, Chopp first floor. When: Sunday, June 17 Rating: SFW
"Addison, you didn't have to..." Archie was surprised, to be honest, when Addison had approached him with a wrapped gift ‘for Father’s Day.’ He hadn’t expected anything like this when he offered to let the boy stay with him this summer, to keep him away from any of Andrew’s friends.
"I know, but you've helped me a lot these last couple months, and I am living with you. So really, you're kinda like my second father."
"Thank you, Addison." Archie unwrapped the gift carefully, grinning at the sight of a mug and packets for tea and hot chocolate. "This is very thoughtful..."
"Figured you could use more," Addison nodded, smiling softly, taking one of the kittens into his arms. "Besides, a lot of your mugs are chipped, so I figured you could use a new one, at least for yourself."
"It's taking longer than I thought to get everything I need for a home here," Archie agreed with a smile, wrapping his hands around the mug. "I'll keep it here, so I use it every day."
"Awesome," Addi grinned. "I'd be really sad if you didn't use it."
"Addison, there is nothing that would keep me from using it," Archie said earnestly.
"Even if it's all cheap and stuff?"
"If it doesn't leak or melt, it doesn't need to be fancy," Archie said. "It was a gift from you, Addison, and I shall treasure it."
"Cool," Addison smiled slightly. "It's been awhile since someone has really appreciated what I got them like this. I mean, my dad says thank you and everything, but I feel like he doesn't really like it and he's just trying to be nice."
"You got me something I needed and would find useful. How could I not appreciate it?" Archie set the mug on the table again and opened his arms to Addison. "Come here, kiddo."
Addison looked hesitant, but slowly went into Archie's arms, hugging him tightly.
Archie hugged Addison back just as tightly, squeezing the boy's thin shoulders. "Thank you, Addison."
"You don't have to say thank you," Addison said with a slight blush.
"Of course I do! You gave me a gift!"
"But it's just a gift! It's not that special."
"It's special to me, Addison."
"I know, but still. Don't worry about it.”
"Thank you all the same."
"Well, my birthday is in July, sooooo... Kidding!"
Archie laughed, giving Addison another squeeze. "I'll definitely get you a mug, at least, so you can have your own unchipped one!"
"That'd be cool," he said, squirming in Archie's grip. "Or maybe some new make up?"
"We'll see," Archie said, letting Addison go. "It's your birthday, after all. Birthdays should net you more than one present."
Addison cuddled with the kitten again. "You don't have to, I'll get a lot of use outta make up though."
"And out of a mug," Archie said with a smile.
"Well yeah, but I use make up every day...I guess I'd use a mug every day too.
"We'll see what happens come July."
"I can't imagine never using make-up."
"You won't run out of makeup," Archie assured Addison.
"I know, that's like...a nightmare," he laughed.
"Eh, I'm sure it's not that bad."
"Well, you don't wear any, so you kind of don't get it."
"That is true."
"I like my makeup. Covers up everything," Addi nuzzled the kitten in his arms.
