Re: 11:30
Caleb had arrived at 11:20AM and had watched the person who was auditioning before him from the edge of the stage, his teeth nipping at his bottom lip anxiously. He had managed to stop in order to flash the other boy a smile as he passed, his stomach squirming uncomfortably as he realised that it was now his turn. Pausing for a moment and running his fingers through his bangs before pushing one arm of his hoodie up nervously, he took a deep breath and walked as confidently as he could muster onto the stage.
Stopping in front of the microphone and adjusting it slightly, he smiled at the group of boys before him and curled the fingers from one hand around the stand. "Hi," he said, waving slightly with his free hand before it came to rest on top of the microphone, "I'm Caleb Kennedy and I'll be singing Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol."
It was then that the accompanying music started, giving Caleb a few short seconds to close his eyes and take another deep breath before launching into the song.
"We'll do it all, Everything, On our own.
We don't need Anything Or anyone..."
Caleb was more than aware that his voice was a little quiet as he began, and so he upped the volume as he slipped easily into the chorus. He also made a point of making eye contact with the watching Warblers, knowing that such a thing would put forth the confidence that he could steadily feel begin to rise within him as the song progressed.
"I don't quite know How to say How I feel.
Those three words Are said too much, They're not enough..."
The song was one of Caleb's favourites. He had made a vow to try and give a stripped down and bare performance, wanting more than anything to showcase his voice. That was what the Warblers were all about, right? It was a glee club, and an extremely prestigious glee club at that. It was all about the voices and how well they meshed together. True, he knew that there were many other important aspects but he felt as though singing was the top priority. Therefore he'd chosen a song to highlight his vocal talents, opting out of moving about too much and showing off anything but his voice.
"Let's waste time, Chasing cars Around our heads..."
As the song began to approach the end, Caleb realised just how relaxed and happy he felt. Although he had been excited (and more than a little nervous) about auditioning, he was fast discovering just how good it felt to sing for an audience. It caused his confidence to soar, and he felt as though he had finally come into his element as he delivered the final chorus.
"If I lay here, If I just lay here, Would you lie with me and just forget the world?"
Closing his eyes as the music trailed off, Caleb grinned almost proudly to himself before looking at the Warblers and gulping slightly as his smile faded. In his mind, the easy part was over. Now he had to wait for the comments and questions that he knew were coming his way.
